Taeyeon and Wendy Break Their Silence on Their Absence from Upcoming Concerts - Netizens Buzz

Taeyeon and Wendy Break Their Silence on Their Absence from Upcoming Concerts

SM Entertainment is slated to hold its 30th-anniversary concert SMTOWN LIVE 2025 in Seoul on Jan. 11-12. Ahead of the much-anticipated event, the label announced its star-studded lineup, raising fans’ excitement.

Unfortunately, Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon and Red Velvet’s Wendy decided to sit out from the forthcoming shows, leaving SONEs (SNSD fandom) and ReVeluvs (Red Velvet’s fans) shocked and disappointed.

Recently, both singers took to the fandom-communicating platform Dear U Bubble to apologize for disappointing those who waited for them. But in their latest statements, Taeyeon and Wendy strongly hinted that their absence was the label’s fault.

“It was a situation where I really wanted to perform well and was motivated to do two or three songs, so I told the company (SM) to prepare. I was waiting, but to sum it up, they weren’t able to make the preparations so due to it, I ended up not being able to do it at all,” explained Taeyeon, the leader and main vocals of “Nation’s Girl Group” SNSD.

“I never do something because I don’t have any motivation or I don’t want to do it. It’s not that, but I just want to put on a show on stage with all my heart and sincerity. All I want is to do my best. But since (SM) didn’t properly help me, I’m seriously thinking about this — What on earth is going on? I’m saying this to SONEs just in case people may think (the problem) is me. I’m a little worried that there might be some misunderstanding.”

The “Fine” hitmaker continued to criticize the label and subtly revealed that SM’s reason was that they forgot.

Meanwhile, Red Velvet’s main vocalist Wendy, who revealed a week prior that she won’t be attending the event, also explained her side.

“Hello. You probably saw the announcement already or maybe you haven’t yet, but the discussion with the company happened a month ago yet the notice only went up today,” she started, blaming the company for the short notice.

“I apologize since there must have been a lot of ReVeluvs waiting for Red Velvet’s five-member stage. But since it is our 30th anniversary, there will be various stages prepared. I hope you have a good time. Thank you and I’m sorry.”
