The Divorce Insurance Episode 12 Recap

The Divorce Insurance finale starts with Han-deul and Ki-jun spending a rather romantic morning together after, well, spending a VERY romantic night together as well. Dae-bok and his wife seem to be doing well too, as he helps her with the groceries while Ah-young decides to give Woo-shik a chance.

Soon after, he gets good news that the rejections have been resolved. At the office, everyone congratulates him for resolving his differences with So-jeong, and they decide to celebrate. Of course, things hit a snag with Seon-man and Yeo-reum’s case goes public and receives a ton of backlash. The team strategises for a way to convince the upper management that the scheme doesn’t promote divorce, but comes up with nothing.

Later, Na-rae asks Jeon-man out on a date, and he talks to Ki-jun about the job offer that he has received and asks for his opinions on moving to Singapore. Ki-jun figures out that it’s about Na-rae and encourages him to take the leap. Later, the women help Dae-bok to pick out a gift for So-jeong while Han-deul informs Ki-jun that she will be visiting her parents that evening.

During their date, Jeon-man and Na-rae get very close as he talks to her about possible solutions and eventually ushers her out, insisting that he needs to work while Han-deul and Ki-jun share an ice cream at the playground, and he stumbles upon his solution as she is opening up about her relationship with her parents.

The next day, Ki-jun breaks down his solution in front of everyone and the opportunities that it opens up leave all of them excited. After a gruelling few days of hard work, everyone is happy with the results except Han-deul, who brings up the topic of fine-tuning the AI underwriter. Eventually, even the FSS give them the all-ok, leaving the entire team relieved. It’s a time for celebration as the scheme is eventually officially launched. However, that also means that the task force has to be disbanded!

However, before that, they plan to go to the beach together to celebrate a good job done, while Dae-bok plans to take So-jeong to see the Northern Lights in a grand romantic gesture! The team have a swell time at the beach, and Na-rae tells everyone about her plans to move to Singapore, upsetting Ah-young. Jeon-man finally musters the courage to accept her proposal, but she falls asleep on him before he can say anything. However, he doesn’t seem to mind.

Meanwhile, Han-deul and Ki-jun have a romantic walk down the pier, talking about twin flames and finding their perfect romantic partner. Ki-jun, however, confesses that he knew from the moment he saw her at the grocery store that she was the one for him. Eventually, the two share a romantic kiss.

The next day, the team is excited to learn about their first client, who turns out to be the company president’s daughter! As Na-rae gets ready to board her flight, Jeon-man rushes over to go with her, and she kisses him, overwhelmed with feelings. Of course, she starts rattling off about her accommodations, but he kisses her passionately once more. As the insurance launches to the general public, it becomes an instant hit, and we see Ki-jun and Han-deul excited by the response. The two then start to walk down a park, and decide to stop being formal with each other.

The season ends in the office, with the risk assessment team going through the AI questions and responding positively to them, ending with everyone saying that they are happy. The last scene shows Ki-jun rushing to Dae-bok and proposing another wacky insurance scheme – pride insurance. Suffice it to say, Dae-bok isn’t amused!

This drama hasn’t been the best, but I can’t say that I didn’t like it. The Divorce Insurance season finale ends on the same whimsy it started. It’s cheeky, warm and quite funny. Although again, it’s not a memorable show in the traditional sense of the term, I can’t say that I wasn’t moved by the human stories and how the drama tackled adult relationships. It was realistic and nice to see these relationships evolve, and while there were some immature moments, I will give the show credit for delivering on the romance department.

If you’re in the mood to watch something sweet and relaxing without adding too much taxation to your brain, this one might be it. Just don’t have too many expectations!
