In the last episode, the team successfully ends up saving their unit once more after uniting an elderly couple with a sad reality. Meanwhile, Ki-jun and Han-deul find it difficult to ignore their attraction towards one another and decide to give their complicated relationship a shot. In the end, however, a new problem arises which threatens to shut their unit down once and for all.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 9 has a runtime of 66 minutes.

After the devastating news in the last episode, threatening to dissolve the task force, Na-rae tells the others that Best General Insurance is also going after approving their divorce insurance scheme. That’s when Han-deul tells everyone that she had a meal with Lee Jung-shin not too long ago, but mentions that she seemed to know about the divorce insurance from before. Na-rae tells the others that the audit team will look into this and then walks out, leaving the others shocked.

The next day, Jung-shin seems to be in a hurry to get everything approved and cut off any loose ends while the task force at Plus General Insurance wonders what lies in store for them. Just then, the audit team arrives to fetch Han-deul’s system, leaving everyone shocked. As Han-deul is ushered away, Ki-jun looks visibly stunned as the others look on in stunned silence as well.

Meanwhile, Na-rae tracks down Jeong-chi, who has been dodging her calls. She asks him to stop Best General Insurance’s attempts at making the divorce insurance scheme, but he reminds her of her plan — to make a competent product, use it to climb the ladder to Vice President and then sell it to China. Unfortunately, Jeon-man follows them and overhears this conversation and feels a deep sense of betrayal.

Back at the task team’s office, Jeon-man is shocked to learn that Han-deul is being accused of leaking data. As they wonder what to do, Ki-jun comes up with a plan to check Han-deul’s login details against those of the CCTV. When they realise that that might be a long shot, Dae-bok volunteers to check the computer login records at the very least to help his teammate.

Unfortunately, they all come back empty-handed. They decide to meet Na-rae to ask for her help, and Jeon-man can’t help but wonder whether this is a good idea. As expected, Na-rae refuses to help them, but Ki-jun reminds her that only she can do something in this situation to help all of them. The dilemma leaves her in deep thought.

As the team can’t do anything but wait, Na-rae goes through the login records and finds something curious. Meanwhile, Han-deul finally comes back from the audit and reports on what she went through, including that she will be suspended. As they feel absolutely crushed, Na-rae goes through security footage and sees Jeong-chi’s security staff going to the task force office. She further learns that the permission to go in would’ve come from the CFO level, leaving her wondering what to do next.

Just as she thinks about meeting the CFO or going to the audit team, Jeon-man asks her to meet, and she rushes to do so. He confronts her about the conversation from earlier, but she tells him that she did so because she didn’t want anyone to know about them. He advises her to find the strength to do what is right as the two look at the beautiful sunset in front of them. That night, Ki-jun drives Han-deul to her parents’ place, who are extremely frosty with her. Of course, it’s the same-old sexism game, and she ends up walking out in tears, only to find Ki-jun waiting for her.

The next morning, Na-rae gathers the courage to confront Jeong-chi, who threatens to out her involvement if she doesn’t walk away. But it seems like that’s not going to be an option for her as she drops a cup of hot tea on him. After having a good cry, she meets the task team and confesses to them the entire plan. They then decide to prove Han-deul’s innocence and try to find proof that she wasn’t at the office when the leaks supposedly took place.

Ki-jun and Jeon-man end up trying to nab Mr Oh and catch him just as he’s about to escape. As he hands over the evidence, Na-rae meets Jung-shin and asks her to stay away from the divorce insurance plan. She further brings proof of her unlawfully getting company information, which makes her take note.

In the end, Jeong-chi begs Na-rae for forgiveness, but that doesn’t work out in his favour, especially when the audit team arrives to take him away. Na-rae eventually gets on the elevator with Jeon-man, who comforts her by holding her hand. Back at the office, Dae-bok delivers the news that the task force is back on track. That night, Ki-jun gives Han-deul a surprise by turning her apartment into a cosy Christmas oasis. It’s happy times all around as everyone celebrates their second life.

Just then, the FSS officer, Mr Kim Seon-man, arrives to get his hands on a divorce insurance scheme, claiming that he wants to go through a divorce. While Han-deul is sympathetic to his struggles, Ki-jun and the others decide to help the couple overcome their differences. However, the problem arises when Han-deul refuses to stop the divorce.

The Divorce Insurance Episode 9 Review

Now that we have almost reached the end, I think I understand the charm of this simple, cosy drama with not a lot at stake. Most of the storyline is quite apparent, and there are not many complicated twists that might leave viewers on edge. For anyone and everyone who might need something warm, cosy and fast-paced, this one hits the sweet spot. Today’s episode ends the overarching storyline involving Jeong-chi and Na-rae, and, as mentioned previously, the twist doesn’t bring much to the table. It’s everything that we knew previously, but it’s nice to see the characters’ interactions anyway. All in all, warm and gooey but nothing particularly memorable.
