The drama that’s causing a stir lately, “Doubt”, actually had a different original title

This series depicts the dilemma faced by Korea’s best profiler when he discovers his daughter’s secret related to a murder crime.

Some people are even cautiously raising the idea of a “Doubt” phenomenon as the drama is receiving rave reviews. Its flawless combination of writer, director and actors has captivated viewers, leaving them breathless as they follow its fast-paced narrative.

This Intimate Traitor

In the midst of this, some viewers discovered that the original title of “Doubt” was actually different from what it is now, sparking interest.

Initially, the title was “Aim for the Turtle’s Neck”. Writer Han Ah-young won the Excellence Award in the 2021 MBC Drama Script Contest with this work. At that time, the title was “Aim for the Turtle’s Neck”. The original title, with its distinctly different tone, led netizens to express varying opinions, with some saying “The original title is better“, while others preferred the current one, remarking, “The current title suits it more“, and some saying “The original title would be better for a movie“.

Additionally, although “Doubt” is an original creation with no prior source material, a novel with the same title had already been published. The title was borrowed from the Korean translation of “The Sociopath Next Door”, written by Martha Stout, a professor of psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. All prior arrangements regarding the use of the title have been settled, but the drama’s content is entirely unrelated to the book.
