SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama “The Fiery Priest 2” (written by Park Jae-beom, directed by Park Bo-ram, produced by Studio S, Big Ocean ENM, Red Nine Pictures and Gilstory ENT), which premiered on November 8, has captivated viewers with even more intense action, grander scale and the intriguing mix of returning and new characters. This success has led the show to claim the top spot across all channels on Fridays for four consecutive weeks.
In Episode 8, Kim Hong-sik (played by Sung Joon) discovers through Gecko (Kim Young-sung) that Jung Seok-hee (Shin Eun-jung), Kim Hae-il (Kim Nam-gil)’s senior in the National Intelligence Service, extracted information about him from Thailand’s DSI. Hong-sik confronts Seok-hee, who senses danger and attempts to fight back but is ultimately overpowered.
In Episode 9, airing on Friday, December 6, the stakes rise as Sung Joon and Shin Eun-jung deliver a nail-biting torture scene. The plot unfolds with Hong-sik abducting Seok-hee. With her hands and feet bound, Seok-hee is covered in blood and visibly battered, revealing the torment she’s endured. Hong-sik kneels before her, locking eyes as he delivers a chilling warning. Despite her weakened state, Seok-hee fiercely meets his gaze, engaging in a tense power struggle. Viewers are left questioning whether Seok-hee will survive and how their confrontation will unfold.
Notably, Sung Joon and Shin Eun-jung reunite as abductor and victim nine years after their roles in “Hyde Jekyll, Me” in 2015. The two shared fond memories, warmly greeting each other and lightening the atmosphere on set. However, once filming began, their intense synergy took over, creating a palpable tension that captivated everyone on set.
The production team praised the actors, stating, “Sung Joon and Shin Eun-jung are masters at channeling their concentrated energy into explosive performances. Their dynamic collaboration in Episode 9 will inject fresh vitality into the story. Please look forward to their remarkable performances.”
Episode 9 of “The Fiery Priest 2” will air on December 6 at 10 PM KST, followed by Episode 10 on December 7 at 9:50 PM KST.
