The Haunted Palace Episode 11 Recap

Episode 11 of The Haunted Palace picks up right where the cliffhanger left us—with Gangcheol facing off against the Eight-Feet Spirit. The vengeful entity, now fully aware of Gangcheol’s celestial origins, mocks and questions him. Why, the spirit demands, does Gangcheol fight for the royal family when they are the true villains? He warns Gangcheol ominously before vanishing into the shadows. Stunned and unsure of what just transpired, Gangcheol quickly searches the hidden room and finds Yeo-ri crammed inside a cupboard—alive but shaken. The two flee the Blind Shaman Bureau and return safely.

The next morning, word reaches the King about Poong San’s secret shrine. Though deeply troubled by recent revelations, he is relieved to hear that Yeo-ri is safe. He promptly orders his men to hunt down the Blind Shaman, knowing she’s now at the heart of everything. The King himself ventures to the shrine in question. Alone in its eerie silence, he confronts the invisible Eight-Feet Spirit, demanding answers. Though the spirit remains unseen, the tension crackles in the air as the King and the vengeful entity silently acknowledge one another—rage, guilt, and unfinished history heavy between them.

Meanwhile, Yeo-ri checks on Gangcheol, who is visibly distracted. Still haunted by the spirit’s cryptic accusation, he wonders aloud who this vengeful ghost might be. Yeo-ri, hearing the confrontation, advises him to ignore the spirit’s manipulations. What could a snake-like spirit possibly have against royalty? Gangcheol nods, but he can’t shake the feeling that the Eight-Feet Spirit knows more about his divine descent than he’s letting on.
Just then, BiBi interrupts and pulls Gangcheol aside. He points out one of the noblemen and urges Gangcheol to “help him eat” the man, code for removing the talisman and letting BiBi consume his soul. Gangcheol reluctantly agrees and prepares the shamanic plate. However, Yeo-ri suddenly appears and snatches it away, apologising to the nobleman.

Gangcheol is stunned and confronts her. Why protect a man who may be evil? Yeo-ri passionately insists that murder is still murder—even if done in the name of justice. She confronts him about Minister Sang-chung’s mysterious death. Gangcheol confesses: Sang-chung was responsible for Yoon Gap’s death and had kidnapped and tortured his mother. He had no choice. But Yeo-ri isn’t convinced. She accuses him of misusing Yoon Gap’s body to serve BiBi’s vendetta. That night, Gangcheol lies awake, tormented by Yeo-ri’s words. Her deep care for Yoon Gap and her moral clarity leave him shaken. Meanwhile, BiBi stews in anger, furious that Yeo-ri ruined his “meal.”
The following day, the palace strategises their next move. The King and his advisors conclude that the Eight-Feet Spirit likely originated from Yongdam Village, where someone who once served the King’s great-great-grandfather may have died a wrongful death. Yeo-ri offers her warding stone to the young prince as they prepare for a journey to Yongdam, reasoning that the stone’s protection might benefit him more now.

In the palace, Bong-in confesses to the King that the Queen Dowager had once been close to the Blind Shaman. Suspicious but reluctant to judge her prematurely, the King decides to confront her. At her chambers, he reveals the truth behind Young-in’s death and the shaman’s betrayal. Horrified, the Queen Dowager pieces it all together and realises her trusted confidante orchestrated her son’s death. But the big question looms—will she now confess what she knows about the spirit’s origins?
Back at the residence, Gangcheol and the King share a rare heart-to-heart. When Gangcheol expresses discomfort about how highly the King regards Yoon Gap, the monarch chuckles, amused by Gangcheol’s jealousy. He also subtly hints that he knows Gangcheol had something to do with the recent deaths.

Soon after, BiBi finds Gangcheol and urges him to retrieve the hidden shamanic plate from Yeo-ri. But Gangcheol refuses. Yeo-ri’s moral compass has made him reevaluate everything—including BiBi’s relentless quest for vengeance. Enraged, BiBi accuses Gangcheol of changing—of going soft because of “that girl.” He then drops a bombshell: he knows Gangcheol’s glowing pearl must be sacrificed to end the Eight-Feet Spirit. He had overheard the secret conversation with the monk.
Hidden nearby, Yeo-ri hears every word. Shocked and devastated, she realises Gangcheol’s death might be the only way to stop the curse. Wracked with guilt, she wonders how she never saw the weight he carried. Meanwhile, in a decaying shrine offered by Bong-in, Poong San and Se-won hide under the spirit’s protection. When Bong-in had ordered their deaths, the spirit had intervened, terrifying the nobleman into granting them sanctuary.

Later, BiBi, wandering the town, is drawn by the scent of sin. He finds the nobleman he wanted to devour tied up in the shrine and wastes no time consuming his soul. Poong San appears and offers BiBi a deal—bring Yeo-ri to the shrine, and he’ll help Gangcheol return to his celestial form so the brothers can ascend together. BiBi is tempted. But when he sees Yeo-ri and Gangcheol walking home, laughing and sharing a kiss, his resentment boils over.
That night, Yeo-ri is lured by BiBi, who claims he knows where the Eight-Feet Spirit’s identity tag is hidden. Trusting him, she follows him to the shrine, only to be locked inside. Gangcheol, sensing something is wrong, wakes and hears Se-won sneaking out. He follows him to the same location.

At the shrine, BiBi attacks Gangcheol, mistaking his arrival for interference. As their supernatural battle intensifies, Yeo-ri screams at them to stop—Poong San is using them. Suddenly, the Eight-Feet Spirit possesses the shaman’s body and hurls a sword at Gangcheol. In a flash, BiBi jumps in front of his brother. The blade pierces BiBi’s pearl—his divine core. The spirit snatches it and consumes it, becoming more powerful than ever.
Yeo-ri begs everyone to flee. As Gangcheol carries his wounded brother to the riverside, he does everything he can to keep him alive. BiBi, however, knows the end has come. With tears in his eyes, he apologises for his mistakes and his blind vengeance. As the rain begins to fall, he dies in his brother’s arms.

Gangcheol collapses in grief, the loss of his brother washing over him like the rain from the heavens. The pearl is gone, the spirit has grown stronger, and the cost of war is clearer than ever. The stage is now set for a final reckoning—and only fate knows who will survive it.
The Haunted Palace Episode 11 Review
This episode of The Haunted Palace hits like a storm—raw, emotional, and devastating. The growing dread surrounding the Eight-Feet Spirit reaches a fever pitch, and the tension is nearly unbearable. BiBi’s betrayal and impulsiveness finally catch up with him in the most tragic way possible. Watching him fall for Poong San’s obvious trap was infuriating; his desperation to prove himself and reclaim his brother blinded him to everything Yeo-ri and Gangcheol were trying to protect. And now, the spirit has the pearl—its power surging—and we’re left terrified of what comes next.

BiBi’s death, while heroic in the end, was rooted in some of the dumbest choices he’s ever made. He let jealousy and vengeance dictate every move, and it cost him his life and gave the enemy exactly what it wanted. His character has always teetered between chaotic and loyal, but this time, his recklessness tipped the scales—and now, the consequences are catastrophic. With Gangcheol grieving, Yeo-ri shattered, and the spirit stronger than ever, the finale is set up to be an absolute nightmare. We’re scared. For real.
