What Happened So Far?
Episode 12 of The Haunted Palace begins in the heavy aftermath of BiBi’s death, with Gangcheol spiralling into grief and existential dread. As he mourns by the river, Yeo-ri comforts him, asking him to blame her for their shared loss. But grief quickly gives way to political fallout—Bong-in arrests Yeo-ri and Gangcheol for trespassing into the Bureau of the Blind Shamans. The King intervenes and learns that Bong-in, once a trusted advisor, orchestrated Poong San’s entry into the palace. With the Queen Dowager backing Yeo-ri’s claim, Bong-in is arrested after unintentionally confessing his crimes in front of the royal court. His exile is short-lived, however, as Poong San turns on him and kills him.
Meanwhile, the King and his party, including Gangcheol and Yeo-ri, travel to Yongdam in search of an ominous book tied to dark secrets. At Choi Won-woo’s estate, they encounter a possessed In-seon and uncover that Won-woo once killed a book broker to hide the truth about a mysterious tome—Gangham Chronicles. With the help of a vengeful spirit, Yeo-ri and Gangcheol recover the hidden book before it’s destroyed. But as one evil is subdued, another awakens: Poong San’s ritual empowers the eight-legged spirit, which ominously begins possessing Gangcheol. The episode ends on a chilling note, as Gangcheol faces the terrifying possibility of losing his soul to the ancient force.
The Haunted Palace Episode 13 Predictions
The King and his royal troupe will soon delve into the pages of the Gangham Chronicles, only to be shaken by its contents. They will uncover harrowing truths about Yeonjung the Great, the King’s own ancestor, and the devastating legacy he left behind in the once-prosperous village of Yongdam. As the King reads further, he will be forced to confront the brutal reality that his forebears’ reckless governance and cruelty were directly responsible for the village’s downfall.
The people of Yongdam had suffered immensely under Yeonjung’s rule, and among them was a military figure who had once dedicated his life to protecting his people. Seeing them mercilessly slaughtered due to royal misjudgment, this man’s righteous anger will eventually morph into a powerful, vengeful spirit—one that now threatens to engulf the palace in its fury. As the King begins to grasp the weight of his ancestral sins, he will be haunted by guilt and a growing sense of responsibility.
In a strange and unexpected turn of events, the spirit will deliberately release Yoon Gap’s soul. It will drift away from its body and find its way to Yeo-ri, who will immediately sense something is amiss. She and Gangcheol will begin to question the spirit’s motives—why would it let Yoon Gap go so freely? What could it possibly gain from such an act? The pair will become increasingly uneasy, suspecting that Yoon Gap is being used as bait in a far more sinister plan.
Witnessing Gangcheol occupying his former body and realising how deeply his existence has changed, Yoon Gap’s spirit will begin to unravel. His mind will teeter on the edge of collapse, and before long, it is likely that the bitterness festering within him will darken his soul, leaving him susceptible to becoming yet another agent of destruction.
Meanwhile, Yoon Gap’s sudden reappearance will not go unnoticed. Confused and misinformed, palace officials will launch a manhunt, unaware that it is no longer Yoon Gap who inhabits his body. Their intentions will be lethal—they will aim to eliminate what they believe is a lingering threat to the throne. At the same time, Poong San will continue to weave his web of manipulation. Ever cunning, he will successfully coerce one of the ministers to assist in tracking down and eliminating Yoon Gap, thereby tightening the trap around Gangcheol.
As this dangerous game of spiritual warfare unfolds, Yeo-ri will find herself at the centre of the chaos. With Gangcheol’s life hanging by a thread, Yoon Gap’s soul spiralling into darkness, and the King desperately seeking redemption and answers, it will fall upon Yeo-ri to piece together the puzzle. She will have to rely on her strength, intuition, and growing spiritual connection to stop the rising tide of evil. What lies ahead will be a battle not just for survival, but for justice, peace, and the soul of the kingdom itself.
