The Queen Who Crowns Plot
Queen Won Kyung, born to Min Je in the Goryeo period, is a woman who hails from a prestigious family of high-ranking officials. Known as Lady Min before her marriage to Lee Bang-won (Prince Jeongan), who is the eldest son of King Taejo, founder of the Joseon dynasty. With the wish to follow in his father’s footsteps, Lee Bang-won wishes to be king. Unfortunately, the King selects his second son Yi Bang-gwa as his successor, leaving the two stunned.
Unable to accept this decision, Lady Min works as the kingmaker and succeeds in making her husband the ruler- King Taejong. However, things soon take a turn when her husband acquires many concubines after his enthronement, causing tension in the inner palace. As the relationship between Queen Won Kyung and King Taejong begins to get worse over time, King Taejong wishes to put the queen and her family in place through his influence which becomes the breaking point for the queen.
Pushed to the edge, she begins to devise a new plan for her survival and for her family who are pulled into this chaos. Will she succeed and become a kingmaker once again or will she fall in front of King Taejong’s power?

Directed by Kim Sang-ho, the drama stars Cha Joo-young as Queen Won Kyung aka Lady Min, Lee Hyun-wook as King Taejong aka Lee Bang-won, Lee Yi-dam as Chae Ryeong, Lee Shi-ah as Young Sil, Choi Deok-moon as Ha Ryun, Park yong-u as Lee Suk-beon and other cast members.
The Real Has Come! star Cha Joo-young makes her return to the screen in the role of Queen Won Kyung, alongside Remarriage and Desires and Song of the Bandits star Lee Hyun-wook who plays the role of King Taejong. The Queen Who Crowns Release Date and Time
The drama is set to release on January 6th, 2025, as it takes over tvN’s Monday and Tuesday 20:50 PM KST time slot previously occupied by Parole Examiner Lee. The show is said to consist of 12 episodes, with two episodes released each week on the said days. The show is set to broadcast on tvN and will stream internationally on Viki.
