According to Nielsen Korea on March 17, the final episode of Channel A’s weekend drama “The Witch,” which aired on March 16, recorded a nationwide paid household rating of 2.7%, marking the end of its run with a slight increase in viewership.
In the final episode, the protagonists, played by Park Jin-young and Noh Jung-ui, finally managed to break the long-standing “Law of Death” that had haunted them throughout the series. Their journey, filled with trials and sacrifices, ultimately led to a happy ending where they saved each other, bringing a sense of closure and redemption to their story.

The drama initially premiered with a modest 2.4% viewership rating. While it showed promising growth in episode 2, reaching 3.0%, and peaked at 3.1% in episode 8, the series largely remained within the 1–2% range throughout its run. The lowest point came in episode 9, when ratings dropped to 1.3%, raising concerns about audience retention. However, the drama managed to recover slightly, climbing back to 2.6% in the final episode before concluding with 2.7%.
Meanwhile, on the same night, competing dramas saw varied results. Episode 4 of JTBC’s weekend drama “The Art of Negotiation” (written by Lee Seung-young, directed by Ahn Pan-seok) achieved a new personal best, reaching an impressive 7.1% viewership rating, solidifying its steady growth and strong audience engagement. Over on tvN, episode 6 of “The Potato Lab” (written by Kim Ho-soo, directed by Kang Il-soo and Shim Jae-hyun) recorded a 1.6% rating, showing consistent but modest performance in comparison to its competitors.

Despite initial buzz and expectations of high ratings, “The Witch” ultimately wrapped up its run with a modest performance. The drama garnered attention for its intriguing premise and strong cast, leading some to predict a significant viewership boost. While it showed glimpses of potential, it struggled to maintain steady growth. Though the finale saw a slight rebound in ratings, “The Witch” concluded without reaching the breakout success that many had anticipated.
