On March 20, YOUNG POSSE started a new music era with their second mini-album, “XXL,” comprised of five songs including the same-name title track.

The song depicts the group’s ambition and aspiration to become an “XXL” size in the music industry in the future. The track then contained a cheerful old-school hip-hop rhythm, bringing back the hip-hop sensibility of the 90s.

Following its release, it ranked 60th on MelOn HOT100, Korea’s largest music site and received numerous reviews from local and international fans.

Despite this, it is noticeable that YOUNG POSSE received less attention than its past releases, looking at its performance both in album sales and sound source.

Two days already passed, but the music video for “XXL” is stuck in having only 883k views, not even 1 million. It’s a bit slower than “Macaroni Cheese,” which surpassed 1.2 million views in about three days.

Looking at the album sales on Hanteo Chart, YOUNG POSSE only sold 367 “XXL” copies in two days, 203 on the first day and 164 on the second day.

Upon seeing their struggle to reach even 1k sales, numerous K-pop fans felt pity and regret for the girl group, which is comprised of skillful members who all deserve better.

Netizens Criticize DSP Media/Beats Entertainment for YOUNG POSSE’s Lack of Recognition

YOUNG POSSE debuted in October last year under DSP Media and Beats Entertainment. The team comprised five members such as Sunhye, Yeonjung, Jiana, Doeun, and Jieun.

When they debuted, they received high attention for their controversial group name and debut track, “MACARONI CHEESE.”

Despite this, they established loyal fans with their unique concepts on top of the incredible skills of the members in singing, dancing, rapping and songwriting.

While there are expectations that they will eventually rise to stardom, the quintet was eventually overshadowed by more popular girl groups.

Netizens believed in their high potential, thus, they are blaming DSP Media for messing up the group due to its lack of promotion and marketing strategies.

Another reason fans think that is hindering YOUNG POSSE from rising to fame is due to their controversial music choices that seem to inappropriately use elements from other cultures.
