On October 29, entertainment sources reported that fans suspected to be Lisa’s Thai supporters have been flooding Rosé and Jennie’s YouTube channels and social media with boycott messages. Twitter has seen a surge of posts under “BOYCOTT ROSÉ,” with one fan even warning, “Lisa’s fans will do anything to boycott Rosé.”
There are also claims that Thai fans reported Jennie’s recent solo release on YouTube, leading to a temporary block on October 12. Some fans have even been accused of using macros to automate these reports.
Lisa’s fans in Thailand have previously shown strong reactions. In 2022, they criticized Rosé for wishing Lisa a belated happy birthday, despite the explanation that Rosé was in a different time zone. In 2021, they left negative comments on social media when Lisa’s solo song didn’t rank first on a Korean music program, with one fan remarking, “Korea doesn’t deserve Lisa.”
Rosé’s recent single, “APT.,” has gained global success, ranking 8th on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, and reaching No. 1 on U.S. Spotify. Jennie’s “Mantra” also achieved significant milestones, hitting 37th on the UK Official Singles Chart and topping the U.S. iTunes Top Songs chart — the first time for a female K-pop solo artist this year.
Lisa, who debuted as a solo artist first, has been equally successful. Her single “ROCKSTAR” reached 8th on the Spotify Global Chart and 70th on the Billboard Hot 100. Recently, she also appeared as a special guest at the revived Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in New York.
