On October 15 (EST), BLACKPINK’s Lisa performed at the Victoria’s Secret Show. As soon as it was announced that Lisa would perform in the world’s top lingerie show, it garnered considerable attention. This event also marked the return of the Victoria’s Secret Show after a five-year hiatus, creating a buzz in the media.
Lisa put on two separate performances “ROCKSTAR” and “Moonlit Floor” to the world’s hottest lingerie runway. Lisa showcased her stunning figure and charisma while executing bold choreography. During her “Moonlit Floor” performance, Lisa donned angel wings, completely stealing the spotlight on stage.
However, many pointed out that both of Lisa’s performances were met with indifference from the audience. Despite being the opening act with “ROCKSTAR”, where she sang, danced, and walked the runway, the performance was overshadowed by a “sea of silence”, with very few attendees cheering or engaging. Observations from the venue noted that the audience was mostly unresponsive, with only a handful recording Lisa’s performance.
This lack of enthusiasm was even more pronounced during her “Moonlit Floor” performance. It seemed that no one paid attention to Lisa, despite her captivating presence and stunning curves in the angel costume.
Notably, immediately following Lisa’s “ROCKSTAR” performance, supermodel Gigi Hadid took the stage, instantly changing the atmosphere as the audience erupted in applause to welcome the return of the new generation model. Although the footage from the event showed some cheering during Lisa’s performances, many noted that the sounds did not match the actual atmosphere and may have been added effects.
In contrast to Lisa’s performances, the reactions to the other two singers at the Victoria’s Secret Show today, Tyla and Cher, were completely different. The front-row guests were extremely enthusiastic when the legendary Cher appeared. Similarly, Tyla’s catwalk to “Water” got the front-row audience dancing along.
Overall, this year’s Victoria’s Secret Show was not a standout season, and the audience’s reactions were nowhere near the excitement of its golden era.
Like other fashion shows, Victoria’s Secret did not open its doors to fans. The event was held with a limited guest list. Therefore, Lisa’s presence at the show, met with indifference from the crowd, in stark contrast to other artists, raises questions about possible bias against Asian idols.
