When Life Gives You Tangerines Episode 12 Recap
As the heartbreak continues to give Geum-myeong pain, she goes back home to recuperate. Ae-sun and Gwan-sik are happy to have her home and don’t leave a chance to fill their little girl with all the food that she loves. As Geum-myeong slowly begins to find herself back, Gwan-sik takes her out to see the sunrise on his boat where she realises the unconditional love he has had for the siblings all his life.
Later, Ae-sun shows Geum-myeong all the invites to the latter’s wedding and reveals that she never sent them out as she trusted her teachings and how she raised her daughter. Geum-myeong is filled with the love her parents have for her as she finally finds the strength she needs all this time. She soon heads back to Seoul and gets back to living a good life.

The season for goodbyes arrives as the oldest of the Haenyeo trio passes away. Meanwhile, Yang Gyeong-ok arrives asking for a favour by selling her products and Ae-sun is unable to say no, thus buying two heating mats. One she sends to Gwan-sik’s mother and the other she takes to her grandmother who is celebrating her birthday. While the old woman is unable to recognise anyone in the family, she remembers Ae-sun as her father’s child which makes her happy.
However, it is when she says that she knows of Ae-sun’s pain of losing a child, Ae-sun finally finds a lap to cry on. That night, Ae-sun sheds the tears she has been holding back for her lost child and soon after, her grandmother also passes away. Seeing all the goodbyes she has had to say, she turns to Gwan-sik and tells her wish to leave together when the time comes.

Soon, the seasons are set to change once again as Eun-myeong is back from his military service. However, he arrives with an unexpected surprise- a grandchild in Hyeon-suk’s womb which leaves the couple filled with anger. Back in Seoul, an old companion sees Geum-myeong passing by and rushes to chase her, but it looks like this Spring won’t come by easily. This is none other than Cheong-yeop who is back from the military.
When Life Gives You Tangerines Episode 12 Review
Another week comes to an end with this wonderful Kdrama as it takes us through multiple twists and turns once again, before teasing us with a view of the upcoming Spring in Geum-myeong’s life. However, it also leaves us a fear of the inevitable goodbyes that our beloved couple may also have to face very soon as what we have next is the final segment of the show.
Coming back to this episode, we see the pride and joy of our beloved couple who have managed to end a generational trauma by themselves and have saved their beloved Geum-myeong from it. They not only brought out her confidence and will to do it all but also made sure that she never bent under the pressure of the world in any way possible. You can see their pride through their eyes while their love is seen through Geum-myeong’s eyes.

This week has given us some beautiful cinematography, however, there is nothing that compares with this particular episode which shows us everything from the beautiful flower fields to the sea. The way every part of this town is captured truly makes you stunned by the beauty of the countryside, making you wish to witness this yourself.
On the other hand, the lessons each episode brings never ceases to disappoint me and make me appreciate the show all the more. Altogether, this has been a wonderful week for this show, once again showing us why this is one of the top Korean dramas at the moment.
