Recently, netizens have expressed worry over the minimal activity from MEOVV. MEOVV, a five-member girl group consisting of Sooin, Gawon, Anna, Narin, and Ella, is the first girl group from The Black Label, having debuted on September 6, 2024, with the single “MEOW.”
As one of the most anticipated rookie girl groups this year, expectations were high. However, so far, MEOVV has not achieved the explosive popularity that was anticipated.
Since their debut, the group has had limited appearances on music shows and other media platforms. Following a few sparse promotional stages for “MEOW,” they have had no activities aside from attending a HERMES event in early October. MEOVV has not even released behind-the-scenes videos or live broadcasts. Aside from dance practice videos, the public has no insight into the members’ personalities.
While fans wish to support the group, the lack of content to engage with raises concerns that, as a rookie group, they should focus on promotion like others; otherwise, they risk fading into obscurity.
Furthermore, many believe that MEOVV’s primary focus should be on improving the quality of their music. With minimal promotion and an unappealing debut single, they have failed to achieve significant success.
On the online forum Pann, K-netizens expressed their disappointment, “Their reputation has plummeted because they aren’t appearing anywhere,” “People are starting to forget this group,” and “The times have changed. There’s no more time to keep them in a treasure box.” They also criticized the agency for jeopardizing the girls’ careers with outdated strategies.
Some comments compared MEOVV to BLACKPINK and BABYMONSTER. While acknowledging that BLACKPINK used a drip-feed promotional strategy, they pointed out that the group appeared on shows like “Weekly Idol”, “Running Man”, and “Knowing Bros”. BABYMONSTER has also been actively promoted across various social media platforms, resulting in achieving significant attention.
To foster their future career development, netizens pointed out that The Black Label needs to reevaluate the promotional strategy for MEOVV.
