Will We No Longer See Celebrities with Bodyguards? Special Airport Entrance for Stars Sparks Debate

Incheon Airport has announced its plan to introduce a special entrance for celebrities to ensure smoother entry and exit. However, public opinion on this decision is divided.

According to Incheon International Airport Corporation, a new procedure will be implemented on October 28th to allow celebrities and other high-profile individuals to use a dedicated entrance. This aims to reduce crowding and ensure safety, especially when fans gather to see celebrities.

Entertainment agencies have recently received an official document informing them of this new measure. Celebrities or their agencies must apply in advance if they wish to use this special entrance. It won’t be a new entrance, but rather the one used by flight crew and pilots.

The reason behind this decision is simple: large crowds often gather at the airport to see these stars, which can lead to inconvenience and safety risks for regular passengers. For example, actor Byeon Woo-seok faced criticism for “excessive security” when bodyguards blocked gates and inspected tickets of passengers attempting to use the lounge during his departure for his Asia fan meeting tour.

As news of the special entrance spread, many netizens criticized the plan, saying, “What makes celebrities so special?” and “Isn’t this just giving them special treatment?” They argue that while overcrowding is an issue, allowing celebrities to use a private entrance is an excessive measure.

On the other hand, some people, citing numerous cases involving large idol groups, believe that having a dedicated entrance would benefit regular passengers by preventing accidents. For instance, in June, when the group RIIZE arrived at the airport, a large crowd gathered to see them, leading to a situation where an automatic door was broken by the pressure of the crowd.

With opinions divided, the most important issue remains ensuring the safety of not only celebrities but also their fans and other passengers at the airport.
