One of these days, my hubris won’t be immediately punished, but today is apparently not one of those days. I was very pleased that Christmas Eve and Christmas Day came and went without issue, so I thought we’d probably at least be safe till the end of the year.

Well, hours later Woollim Entertainment announced Yeonhee, Yunkyoung, Sohee, and Dahyun will be leaving the company, meaning Suyun is now Rocket Punch and Rocket Punch is Suyun.
We would like to inform you that the exclusive contracts of the artists of Rocket Punch members Yeonhee, Yunkyoung, Sohee, and Dahyun will conclude on December 31.
After extensive discussions with Rocket Punch members regarding their future and direction of activities, we have mutually decided to terminate the exclusive contracts.
After Juri left back in May, the writing seemed on the wall, but I thought they might get a send off or something, but apparently not.
But we weren’t done yet, no no no.
Woollim then announced that Golden Child members Daeyeol, Y, Seungmin, Jaehyun, and Donghyun would also be leaving the company.
The exclusive contracts of Golden Child members Lee Daeyeol, Y, Bae Seungmin, Bong Jaehyun, and Kim Donghyun will come to an end on December 31. We have had extensive and thoughtful discussions with the members of Golden Child about their future and the direction of their activities. After much in-depth dialogue, we have mutually agreed to conclude their exclusive contracts.
Similarly to Rocket Punch, the writing was a bit on the wall when Bomin, TAG, and Jibeom exited back in August. However, there seemed to be some hope because at the same time Jangjun, Seungmin, Jaehyun, Donghyun, and Joochan renewed with the company. Unfortunately, there appeared to have been a change of plans, as now only Jangjun and Joochan remain.

None of the groups seem to be official disbanded but that seems like a formality at this point.
If you look at their sales, I suppose none of this can be surprising, and it’s yet another reminder that the bottom line is supporting your faves financially is what companies respond to. Not getting hit tweets and winning fanwars or whatever many spend most of their time doing on social media nowadays.
Brutal for the idols (and the company, I guess). At least we get a Suyun meme like Youngji and Nana.
