YG Entertainment has spoken out against rumors surrounding singer Song Mino’s military service after allegations were made that he had manipulated his enlistment.
The scandal began after Dispatch reported the 27-year-old WINNER member consistently skipped work while serving as a public service worker.
On December 17, the Military Manpower Administration (MMA) said the authorities had begun investigating the allegations. A source from the MMA told Sports Seoul that they are currently checking the allegations of “attendance manipulation.” If it finds the allegations are true, Song Mino could be sanctioned under laws governing public service personnel.
Service member annual and sick leave entitlements, as per provisions in the Public Service Personnel Duty Management Manual, include a set number of annual leave days based on length of service. The manual also says that misuse of leave could lead to warning letters or extended service penalties.
YG Entertainment said in a statement that it was “difficult to set forth details on the artist’s service” in light of the allegations. But the sick leave was an extension of treatments received prior to his service, and everything else, including vacation days, was used pursuant to regulations.”

Song Mino’s service was in the Mapo Facility Management Corporation as of March 24, 2023, reported Dispatch. After being transferred to the Mapo Convenience Facility in March 2024, he allegedly began to fail to report for duty regularly. Revealing that Song Mino would log in only to disappear minutes later and providing various excuses for this absence, the media outlet prattled on.
Dispatch noted that it visited the facility at least ten times from November to early December but never spotted Song Mino. When questioned as to his absence from attendance, his supervisor allegedly cited annual leave and hospitalization as causes of his absence from attendance. Requests for attendance records or surveillance footage were declined, citing privacy concerns.
He is set to be discharged from the military on December 23, 2024.
