According to a report by Hankyung on March 26, the family’s legal representative, attorney Boo Ji-seok from Buyou Law Firm, announced plans for a press conference at 1:30 p.m. (KST) on March 27 in Seocho-gu, Seoul. The lawyer is expected to disclose materials allegedly proving the relationship between Kim Sae-ron and Kim Soo-hyun began during her teenage years.
The press conference also aims to address and counter what the family claims are “reckless falsehoods” being spread online, with intentions to pursue legal actions.
Previously, the family had stated their intent to perform digital forensics on old photos and data. With this press conference, attention is now sharply focused on whether the long-standing rumor that Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Sae-ron began dating in 2015, when she was just 15, will be substantiated.
These shocking claims were first brought to light by controversial YouTube channel Garo Sero Research Institute (Garo Sero), which cited family testimonies and claimed the two had a six-year relationship starting in November 2015.
Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, initially denied the underage dating rumors. However, they later acknowledged that the two dated from summer 2019 to fall 2020, emphasizing that this occurred after Kim Sae-ron had legally become an adult. “It is not true that Kim Soo-hyun dated Kim Sae-ron while she was underage,” the agency said in a statement.
Despite the denial, Garo Sero escalated the controversy by revealing what they claimed to be a handwritten letter from Kim Soo-hyun, along with photos of him kissing Kim Sae-ron and doing dishes at her home.
In response, Kim Soo-hyun’s side filed legal complaints against Garo Sero, the family, and a person identifying as Kim Sae-ron’s aunt, for violating the Special Act on Sexual Violence Crimes (distribution of footage, etc.).
The press conference may mark a new turning point in this heated public battle, as both sides continue to clash over the truth. All eyes are now on what the late actress’s family will reveal and how Kim Soo-hyun’s team will respond next.
