Doyoung, one of the remaining NCT members, recently held multiple shows as part of his “2024 DOYOUNG CONCERT [ Dear Youth, ]” in Japan.
During his performance of the song “Rest”, Doyoung was visibly overwhelmed with emotion. He broke down in tears mid-song, finding it difficult to continue. He had to step aside momentarily before returning to complete the song.
Fans in attendance shared that this was not the only time Doyoung cried during the concert. He also became emotional during the closing moments of the show, making the experience even more poignant for fans.
The previous day, Doyoung delivered a heartfelt speech that caught attention on SNS. In his message, he told NCTzens (NCT’s fans) that it was okay to take a break from being fans if they needed to and assured them they were always welcome to return when ready.
Doyoung’s recent concerts deeply moved NCTzens, with many expressing their support and empathy, knowing he is going through a challenging time yet still trying to uplift his fans.
Following the concerts, Doyoung shared a letter with fans through the Bubble app. In it, he apologized for his delayed message and for the tears that disrupted his performance. He took the time to reflect on his emotions in light of recent events: “I’m truly sorry for being so late and for sending this message so late to those who must have been worried about me. I don’t know how many times I struggled to write this, writing and erasing. I took so long because I wanted to take time to reflect on myself. I needed to find the right moment to speak to you with a clear heart. That’s why it took so long. I’m really sorry.”

He continued, addressing the concert: “I’m incredibly thankful for yesterday and today. During ‘Rest’, I couldn’t help but cry, and I feel very sorry to the Czennies who came to hear me sing, as I couldn’t perform properly at that moment.”
Doyoung reassured fans with a promise: “Regardless of anything else, I just want to say one thing. I will always sing my heart out for you. Please don’t worry about my singing. That’s the one constant promise I can make. I will sing as much as you believe in me. Thank you so much for these past days.”
He concluded his letter by expressing hope for the future: “Starting tomorrow, I believe we will continue to cherish one another even more and spend meaningful time together.”
