There are ongoing suspicions that Jessi (Jessica Hyun-joo Ho, 35)’s statements are lies.

Jessi released statements that the perpetrator who assaulted her teen fan was Chinese and a “stranger” however the claims are false. This is because the Korean-American fan who was assaulted by Jessi’s group in Itaewon stated that Jessi’s side told her that the perpetrator had left the country and was no longer in Korea. In addition, a picture of Jessi with the producer in question who Jessi claimed “only worked on music a few times together” has also been released drawing attention.

On the 19th, producer Koala‘s identity was exposed on social media as the person that threatened and punched the victim in the stomach. A past photo of him and Jessi being affectionate is also going viral. Koala is someone who worked on Jessi’s “What Type of X,” “Cold Blooded,” and “Nunnu Nana.”

The leaked photo shows Jessi and Koala posing side by side as he kisses her hair. In another photo, Koala is carrying Jessi on his back smiling brightly while looking at each other. 

On the 29th of last month, an incident occurred in Apgujeong-dong, Gangnam-gu, Seoul, where a minor fan was assaulted by Jessi’s group after asking for a picture. When the fan asked for a picture, a male member of the group stopped her, punched her in the stomach, and threatened her. The incident was captured on CCTV and leaked publicly. Afterwards, another man approached the victim and swung his fist. Jessi tried to grab the man’s arm but the assailant had already started hitting the victim. Jessi was then seen leaving the scene without stopping him causing controversy. 

Jessi and 4 others were sued by the victim for assault etc. and were booked. Jessi was also accused by a netizen of hiding the perpetrator and fleeing the scene. Jessi was questioned at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul on the 16th in relation to the incident. She stated, “I hope they find the person that hit her quickly. I hope they get punished.” She also told police that “the perpetrator is a Chinese friend of a close producer (Koala). We met for the first time on the day of the incident.”

However, a Korean-American who claimed to have experienced a similar incident in 2013 criticized the crime scene head and stated, “The prosecution says the perpetrator left the country and is no longer in Korea but this is how it was in the past too. He’s a Chinese? That’s ridiculous. If there had been no CCTV she would’ve denied involvement this time too.”
