Song Hye Kyo-led Korean horror movie Dark Nuns confirms premiere date

Song Hye Kyo and Jeon Yeo Been‘s horror K-movie Dark Nuns has confirmed its release date for January 24.

Dark Nuns follows the story of people who engage in a forbidden ritual to save a boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit. It is the second installment of The Priests, which opened a new chapter in Korean occult cinema when it was released in 2015 and attracted 5.44 million moviegoers.

Earlier this year, director Jang Jae Hyun‘s film Exhuma, who also directed The Priests, became the first occult K-movie to attract over 10 million moviegoers in South Korea, raising anticipation for whether Dark Nuns, set within the same universe as The Priests, will also mark its name among the best Korean horror movies.

Hallyu star Song Hye Kyo plays Sister Yunia, who is determined to use any means necessary to perform the ritual to save the boy. The actress is set to bring a bold and courageous portrayal, showcasing a new side of herself that audiences have never seen before.

Jeon Yeo Been plays Sister Michaela, who helps Sister Junia on her mission.

Additionally, Lee Jin Wook takes on the role of Father Paolo, a psychiatrist who doesn’t believe in the existence of demons, while Moon Woo Jin has been cast as Hee Joon, the boy possessed by a powerful evil spirit.

Dark Nuns will premiere on January 24. More news about the countries where it will be available in theaters is yet to come.
