According to SBS on December 29, a passenger identified as A, who was on Jeju Air flight 7C2216 from Bangkok to Muan two days ago, stated that they noticed something unusual as soon as they boarded the plane.
A explained that while boarding, the engine noise abruptly stopped, and the cabin lights went out. When they asked the flight attendants what was happening, they were simply reassured that everything was fine.
Even after all passengers had boarded, the engine noise and cabin lights were intermittently turning off multiple times. Other passengers also questioned the crew about the situation but reportedly did not receive any detailed explanations.
Eventually, the flight proceeded as scheduled. Although the plane was originally set to take off at 1:30 a.m., it finally departed after 2:30 a.m. and arrived at Muan Airport around 9 a.m.
There were no abnormalities during the flight itself, but passengers had to endure six hours of anxiety.
The aircraft involved, with the registration number HL8088, is the same as the one involved in today’s incident. It is a Boeing 737-800 model, 15 years old, with its first flight in August 2009. Jeju Air introduced the plane in February 2017.
Jeju Air stated that the claims of an engine shutdown two days ago were untrue and that all maintenance records and relevant information had been submitted to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport.
It was also confirmed that the plane involved in today’s incident, like the flight two days ago, took off later than the originally scheduled time from Bangkok.
