On November 1st, BABYMONSTER (Ruka, Pharita, Asa, Ahyeon, Rami, Rora, Chiquita) held a press conference at YG Entertainment headquarters in Mapo-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their first full album “DRIP.”
This comeback comes just three months after their previous release and marks their first full-length album since debut. Having officially debuted in April this year with the addition of member Ahyeon, BABYMONSTER is releasing their first full album in less than a year since their debut.
Rora shared, “We’re finally here with our first full-length album. It might seem quick, but it was possible thanks to our fans’ support and love. Before releasing this album, we successfully concluded our fan meetings. It was a meaningful time where we connected with fans and learned a lot. We’re having such a meaningful first year.”
Chiquita added, “We’re excited to show new charms of BABYMONSTER through this album, which contains various genres,” while Ahyeon emphasized, “We took on many new challenges. During our monthly evaluations, we practiced diverse genres, and this album allows us to showcase that spectrum.”
The full album “DRIP” contains nine tracks, including double title tracks “DRIP” and “CLIK CLAK,” “Love, Maybe” featuring beautiful vocals over guitar instrumentation, “Really Like You” with its 90s hip-hop vibe, “BILLIONAIRE” combining heavy 808 bass with R&B sounds for a Y2K feel, the upbeat “Love In My Heart” aimed at listeners of all ages, “Woke Up In Tokyo” (RUKA & ASA) showcasing Japanese members’ hip-hop vibes, pre-release single “FOREVER,” and the fan-favorite “BATTER UP Remix” from their fan meeting encore.
Rami explained, “True to the album title “DRIP,” we’ve packed it full of BABYMONSTER’s overflowing charms. As our first full album, we put in extra effort. With nine tracks in total, the various genres will give listeners the joy of choosing their favorites,” adding, “We prepared this album thinking about how to better showcase everything we’ve built through our fan meeting tours and activities.”
Ruka then stated, “I think this album will express YG’s new classic. We hope you’ll show lots of interest as we’ll be able to showcase both our unique vocal colors and our teen-like aspects.”
As scheduled, BABYMONSTER’s first full album “DRIP” will be released at 1:00 PM (KST) on November 1st.
