Brewing Love Episode 9 Review: Team’s Efforts Go Wrong

In the previous episode, Yong-ju and Min-ju navigate their growing feelings for each other. After sharing a kiss, Yong-ju feels unsure, but Min-ju reassures her with a heartfelt confession. Back in the village, their sweet interactions make everyone happy, though Yong-ju later teases Min-ju by admitting she blocked him for being “too cute.” Meanwhile, Min-ju and Chan-hwi bond over their love struggles. Chan-hwi ends up confessing to A-reum after rescuing her from a bad date, and they start dating, surprising everyone in the village.

At work, Yong-ju faces pressure to come up with a new beer concept, while dealing with team conflicts and sabotage from a rival department. Feeling stressed, she accidentally calls Min-ju, who senses her struggle and sends her a cheerful text. Inspired, she pitches an idea for diverse beer flavours, which her team loves. As the episode unfolds, Min-ju continues to support Yong-ju, and their bond grows deeper.

Yong-ju’s friends are worried about her after seeing how heartbroken she was when her father returned, shamelessly asking for forgiveness after years of absence. Outside, Min-ju consoles her, telling her it’s okay to cry as many times as she needs. With his gentle encouragement, she breaks down in his arms again. In the following days, Yong-ju tries to move on by cleaning her apartment but finds herself missing her grandmother deeply.

One day, Min-ju shows up and takes her to the village. The villagers, determined to cheer her up, organize a hilarious game showdown where they purposely act goofy just to make her laugh. Their efforts work, and Yong-ju can’t help but smile. Later, as they sit down for juice, their kindness brings tears to her eyes, and they encourage her to let it all out. While sitting on a bench, Min-ju teasingly asks if she wants a hug. Flustered, she refuses, and the village ladies chuckle, telling Min-ju he’ll need to be patient because Yong-ju is a tough girl.

That same day, a YouTuber visits the village to thank the chief for saving him during a landslide. However, things take a turn when the YouTuber secretly films Jjuan, a beloved villager, and uploads the video online, attracting hateful comments. The villagers panic as rumors spread, and some people threaten to boycott Naro Beer. Min-ju catches the YouTuber trying to exploit Jjuan and Mr. Kim for views and confronts him.

A flashback reveals Jjuan’s story: she’s a foreigner who came to Korea with dreams of a happy life, only to be betrayed by a man who abandoned her because she couldn’t have children. Heartbroken and alone, Jjuan was protected by Mr. Kim, who apologized on behalf of Korean men and offered her a home. Over time, they fell in love, but Mr. Kim hesitated to confess, feeling unworthy of such a beautiful woman. With Min-ju’s encouragement, he eventually told her how he felt, and the two got married. Back in the present, Mr. Kim proudly defends Jjuan, calling out the YouTuber for disrespecting her and expressing his love for his wife.

Hearing Mr. Kim’s heartfelt words inspires Yong-ju to face her own feelings. That evening, after battling her nerves, she confesses to Min-ju that she loves him. Min-ju, overjoyed, tells her he’s loved her all along. They share a sweet kiss, officially starting their relationship. The next day, the beer preparation team arrives at the village, and work resumes in full swing. The team experiments with new formulas, and the beer-making process becomes an intense but rewarding effort. Amidst the busy days, Chan-hwi and A-reum’s relationship hits a rocky patch. When A-reum talks about their future, Chan-hwi hesitates, unsure of what lies ahead.

Later, Chan-hwi overhears A-reum’s boss scolding her and steps in to cheer her up. As he drops her home, he mentions how a woman insulted him for bringing a food truck to her upscale neighborhood. That’s when A-reum’s mother shows up, and to his shock, A-reum introduces him as her boyfriend. Her mother pulls her inside, and they have a heated argument. A-reum bravely opens up about her feelings, but the confrontation leaves her shaken. She finds Chan-hwi waiting outside and, through tears, tells him to leave because she doesn’t want him to be unhappy with her complicated family. From that day on, A-reum distances herself, leaving Chan-hwi hurt and confused.

Meanwhile, Min-ju starts spending more time at Yong-ju’s place under the pretense of hanging out but secretly works to brighten up her apartment. Slowly, he transforms her space with thoughtful touches—her favorite music albums, pictures from their dates, and cute decorations. One morning, Yong-ju wakes up to see her room completely transformed. Smiling to herself, she realizes how much he cares for her.

Finally, the big day arrives. The team finalizes the beer’s name as Together to symbolize unity and community. When the chairman and other officials taste it, they’re impressed, and everything seems to be going perfectly. However, as the team reviews the survey results, they’re left stunned. Something doesn’t seem right, and the episode ends with their puzzled faces, leaving viewers eager to find out what happens next.

On the flip side, Chan-hwi and A-reum’s relationship adds a layer of complexity to the episode.
