Buried Hearts Episode 10 Recap

The episode opens with Dong-ju confronting Il-do, who questions whether Dong-ju has regained his memories or has been pretending all along. Dong-ju cryptically responds that if he had remembered everything, he would have let Il-do drown. However, a flashback reveals that Dong-ju did recall his memories when he saw Il-do’s face but chose to save him to exact a more calculated revenge. This revelation sets the tone for the episode, highlighting Dong-ju’s strategic mind and his determination to dismantle his enemies from within.

The next day, at the Daesan office, Dong-ju orchestrates a meeting to promote Gi-hyeon to Vice Chairman, a move that immediately stirs tension. Yeom, waiting in the Chairman’s chamber, announces a major breakthrough for Daesan Energy, aligning it with a prestigious project as per the President’s directive. The Chairman, pleased with Yeom’s efforts, instructs Dong-ju to wire money to Yeom as a reward. However, Il-do intervenes, suggesting he handle the transaction instead. The Chairman then casually mentions Gi-hyeon’s promotion, further fueling Yeom’s frustration. This subtle power play leaves Yeom seething, as he realizes his influence within Daesan is being challenged.

The tension between Yeom and Il-do reaches a boiling point in Il-do’s office, where Yeom violently lashes out, bashing Il-do’s nameplate and berating him. A flashback reveals a younger Il-do being coerced by Yeom into signing documents, highlighting the abusive dynamic between the two. In the present, Il-do remains emotionless, silently vowing to take control of Daesan, even as Yeom’s grip on him tightens.
Meanwhile, Deok-hui, consumed by paranoia over her son Tae-hyun’s future, visits Yeong-su, the mother of Ji Seo-nu, at her bakery. She threatens Yeong-su to stay away from Daesan and warns her not to trust Dong-ju. This confrontation underscores Deok-hui’s desperation to protect her family’s legacy, even as her father’s deteriorating health and Dong-ju’s schemes threaten to upend everything.

Dong-ju arrives at the bakery shortly after Deok-hui leaves and speaks with Yeong-su, explaining why Seo-nu deserves a place in Daesan. Together, they reveal the truth about Seo-nu’s lineage to him, leaving Seo-nu stunned as he learns about his father and his rightful place in the Daesan family. This moment marks a turning point for Seo-nu, who must now grapple with his identity and the weight of his newfound legacy.
Later, Dong-ju meets his hacker friend to gather more information about Yeom’s administrator. During this investigation, he stumbles upon a photo of Il-do with a group of people, including a child. Though puzzled, Dong-ju initially dismisses it. However, his attention is quickly drawn to a video of Yang-chun, who is being tortured and pleads for his life, claiming he holds a secret that could bring Yeom down. Intrigued, Dong-ju provides Yang-chun with food and presses him for information.

Yang-chun reveals the existence of the Dandelion files—a clandestine project initiated by the Elders to create a National Patriotism Fund. Although the project was disbanded and the files were supposed to be destroyed, they still exist and could expose Yeom’s crimes. Dong-ju, recalling a vague memory of the files, decides to use this information to pressure the administrator into revealing their location.
That night, Dong-ju confronts the administrator, revealing his knowledge of the Dandelion files and Yang-chun’s confession. He arranges a video call between the administrator and Yang-chun, hoping to extract more information. However, the administrator uses the call to track Yang-chun’s location, sending a hitman to eliminate him. Fortunately, Dong-ju’s ally, Won-bae, anticipates this move and outsmarts the hitman. The administrator eventually confronts Yang-chun, but Won-bae intervenes, leading to a violent struggle. Dong-ju locks them in and demands the truth about the files. The administrator, in a desperate attempt to unsettle Dong-ju, claims to know about his father, leaving Dong-ju visibly shaken.

Determined to uncover the truth, Dong-ju visits Professor Supyang, whom he believes to be his father based on the files. However, Yeom’s younger brother, who works at the institution, reveals that Supyang is not Dong-ju’s father. This revelation sends Dong-ju on a quest for answers, leading him to Madame Pi, the woman who raised him and Sister Agnes. Madame Pi admits that she knew Dong-ju and Agnes were not siblings and that Dong-ju had wandered into Agnes’ mother’s house as a child.
She gives Dong-ju a box of his old belongings, including a photo that shocks him—it’s the same image he saw earlier, featuring Il-do and others with a child. Madame Pi suggests that the man holding the child in the photo might be Dong-ju’s father, deepening the mystery of his origins.

As Dong-ju grapples with this revelation, Hui-cheol and Eun-nam’s strained relationship takes center stage. Hui-cheol, hurt by Eun-nam’s admission that she stayed with him for financial security, agrees to proceed with the divorce and promises to provide the money she needs. Meanwhile, Yeom retaliates against the President for siding with Dong-ju, spreading rumors that destabilize the President’s plans. This bold move underscores Yeom’s ruthless ambition and his willingness to destroy anyone who stands in his way.
The episode concludes with Dong-ju visiting Eun-nam, who has packed her belongings in preparation for her divorce. When Dong-ju shows her the photo—without revealing that the child is him—she identifies the man holding the child as her father. This revelation leaves Dong-ju stunned, as he realizes the man might be his father, making Eun-nam his potential biological sister.
