Dowoon was caught in hot waters for his reel, which became the subject of controversy and discussion in an online thread.

On December 8, netizens gathered in a community forum to discuss a netizen’s statement demanding the withdrawal of Dowoon from DAY6.

According to the statement, the request was made due to Dowoon’s clip on social media, which showed the band member playing the drums while casually wearing his military uniform.

The artist’s styling choice was met with negative reactions since South Korea is going under public unrest because of rallies protesting the impeachment of President Yoon Suk Yeol. Earlier this December, the South Korean president declared martial law and retracted the implementation hours later, causing extreme public backlash.

“Dowoon’s video showing him wearing a military uniform deals with a highly sensitive topic that is occurring right now (in the country), which also reflects a lack of responsibility as a public figure.”

The statement also suggested measures to prevent further damage to DAY6 and its reputation, including the removal of Dowoon from the band.

“JYP Entertainment must release an official statement addressing Dowoon’s actions and take appropriate steps to protect the band’s image and honor. Fans strongly demand Dowoon’s withdrawal to ensure the recovery of the group’s image and trust among the members. This is an essential measure for their future and the restoration of fans’ trust.”

However, My Days were enraged by the statement and expressed how outrageous it was to request Dowoon’s departure for simply wearing a military uniform.

  • “Why would he leave for simply just doing that?”
  • “What is this overreaction?”
  • “That one person who statement just placed the entire fandom name in it.”
  • “Does this really warrant a withdrawal?”
