[Event] tripleS prove “Girls Never Die” at Los Angeles stop of Come True World Tour

Returning to the US for their second world tour, eight members of tripleS took the stage at The Wiltern. As the last stop in the North American leg of the tripleS Come True 2025 World Tour, members Dahyun, Hayeon, Joobin, Nakyoung, Nien, Seoah, Seoyeon, and Sullin were ready to close out the set with a bang.

As a quick refresher, tripleS is MODHAUS‘ twenty-four member girl group. With the goal of being a “fan-participating girl group,” tripleS puts the power in the hands of their fans (known as WAV) to choose who will rotate between the full group, the sub-units, and solo activities.

Previously, the tripleS launched their first world tour in 2023 with the LOVElution sub-unit performing for the US leg and EVOLution for the Australian leg. During that tour, the Chicago stop was cancelled within two days before its performance and MODHAUS provided a fan-meet with the members at a hotel to makeup for the sudden cancellation. Unfortunately, this tour had a venue change for their Chicago stop which was announced less than two weeks for their 2025 tour. Needless to say, Chicago WAV provided the same support for the eight members as they finally got to see them perform.

This tour upgraded to The Wiltern for the LA stop from the Pasadena Civic Center, which was their last venue during their 2023 tour. Opening the show with a VCR, the eight girls took their positions and formed their wave during “New Look.” The bright house lights, background visuals, and individual outfits showed MODHAUS’ commitment to the same level of set design and stage production for all their groups across the board. This group rocked a fluffy and angelic theme, tied together with bows to round out their outfits.

Their first three songs focused on their dance abilities, giving the members moments to show off their improv moves during the dance breaks. During “24,” the members broke off into pairs and triplets to form different shapes while giving each individual a moment to shine. For any group, some members strengths lie in their stage presence, their vocals, their dancing, or their variety segments. tripleS is an inherently well-rounded group, but the unique combination of these chosen eight members helped to mix up the flow of the stages. On that night, it’s likely everyone found a new bias as each person got their time in the limelight. As someone who’s very familiar with AKB48, Nogizaka46, and their sister groups, the large number of members never intimidated me. Classic songs in the tripleS discography like “Girls’ Capitalism” and “Generation” are revived and given new life with every different performance.

For example, Seoyeon, Nakyoung, Dahyun, Nien, and Hayeon sang the Aria sub-unit song, “Door.” Although some members of the sub-unit were among them, the formations and line distribution were switched up for the ones who were on the tour. Dahyun and Nien stood strong with their vocals while Nakyoung, Seoyeon, and Hayeon — who are not members of the ballad unit — also had their time to shine outside of their visuals and dance skills. Similarly, for the +(KR)ystal Eyes songs “Cherry Talk” and “Touch,” Seoyeon led her fellow tripleS members in terms of vocals and choreography. Dahyun provided the extra vocal punch for “Touch” and Seoah added cute visuals for “Cherry Talk.” Most excitedly, WAV cheered the hardest for the fan favorite “Generation” as Nakyoung confidently took her position from her time in Acid Angel from Asia.

After the seven mix-and-match unit performances, the octet came back in full force with new, grungy outfits. Donning dark skirts and boots, the mood switched up to focus on their girl crush songs. Surprisingly, they performed “Untitled” and “###,” two Japanese unit songs with contrasting themes: one focusing on the intense cool concept while the other leans on the cute concept. Normally, the setlist would focus on either an English song or a Korean song but MODHAUS likely wanted to show all sides of tripleS.

“During this time as we were doing our tour, there was so much energy that we received,” said Seoyeon during the last MC segment. Other members chimed in on how much they’ve appreciated WAV’s support and will take their memories back with them in Korea. Before tearfully waving the crowd goodbye, the members came in for a group hug around Sullin as her voice began shaking. “Queen never cry!”
