With his highly anticipated comeback on March 21, EXO’s Kai is opening up about his creative involvement in his fourth mini-album, “Wait On Me.” Appearing on the April 1 episode of YouTube show “Salon Drip” hosted by Jang Do-yeon, Kai offered rare behind-the-scenes insight, along with a bit of humor, about the pressures and misconceptions surrounding album production.

When asked if he had a direct say in the new album, Kai responded, “Since it’s been a long wait, I thought deeply about what fans would like. They enjoy my versatile sides – sexy, fresh, and more – so I tried to incorporate diverse concepts.”
He added that even the pre-release single, which has a totally different vibe from the main title track, was his idea, “I even pushed hard for the pre-release single.”
When Jang Do-yeon jokingly asked what would happen if fans disliked the new music and assumed SM was behind it, Kai admitted, “That actually happens a lot. People blame SM, but sometimes it was my call…”
He continued with a laugh, “I used to brag about albums before release, but now I quietly wait for reactions before discussing them.”

Kai’s upcoming mini-album, “Wait On Me,” marks his first release since completing his military service. Known for his bold performances and genre-blending tracks, Kai is expected to showcase multiple sides of his artistry, both vocally and visually. The album drops on March 21 at 6 PM KST across all major music platforms.
