Actress Gong Hyo-jin, known for her impeccable fashion sense, has recently revealed that she has taken a break from pursuing the latest trends. In a new video titled “Gong Hyo-jin’s new closet where she ended up just looking around instead of tidying up,” uploaded on her YouTube channel “Dangbungan Gong Hyo-jin” on the 29th, the actress shared her thoughts on her changing fashion preferences.
During the video, Gong Hyo-jin gave a tour of her closet and expressed her feelings about her current fashion style. She commented, “These days, whenever people search for me online, most of the results are cooking videos featuring dogs or just hands. It’s a bit alarming.” She continued, “I’ve lost interest in fashion. My closet is looking pretty bare. Instead of rushing to fill it up with new clothes, I’m actually enjoying the process of decluttering and getting rid of things I no longer need.”
Gong Hyo-jin also mentioned her casual style when she’s not working, saying, “When I’m not filming, I tend to dress up quite a bit, but when I’m off-duty, I don’t mind looking a bit shabby. Right now, since I’m in the middle of filming a movie, I’m wearing loose and comfortable clothes.” She added, “I avoid buying heavy clothes because they make me feel tired. I also don’t carry heavy bags. Even when something was really trendy, I wouldn’t buy it if it was too heavy. I’m the kind of person who gets easily tired when carrying heavy things. During filming, if I’m holding something heavy, people usually tell me to put it down, but I’m the opposite. As soon as the director says ‘cut,’ I immediately put it down. I can’t stand holding it for even a second longer.”
When asked about styling tips, Gong Hyo-jin jokingly said, “My style is outdated. I think I need to take a fashion lesson. I’m at the point where I need to ask NewJeans’ stylist for advice on the latest trends. I can’t believe it, considering I used to be a fashion icon.”
She also talked about her styling choices for a previous drama, explaining, “For that drama, I wanted to avoid using trendy items. I didn’t want to follow the typical trend that every drama sets. I spent two days shopping in New York and bought some unique pieces. Then, I asked a designer friend to create variations of those items in different colors, so I could have a completely new wardrobe.”
