On December 25, Go Hyun-jung shared an update through her personal SNS account, saying, “Merry Christmas, everyone~ Thanks to your concern, I’m feeling much better. Your kind words have been such a source of strength for me. Although I’m still hospitalized, I’ll recover quickly. Have a wonderful evening.”
News of Go Hyun-jung’s health issues first emerged on December 16. She was scheduled to attend the press conference for Genie TV’s original drama “Namib” (written by Eom Sung-min, directed by Han Sang-jae and Kang Min-gu) at 2 PM at D-Cube City, Sindorim-dong, Guro-gu, Seoul. However, just two hours before the event, she unexpectedly announced her absence.
The production team explained, “She is unable to attend due to a sudden health deterioration. Based on the medical team’s advice this morning, absolute rest and recovery are necessary, leaving no choice but to cancel her attendance.”
According to her agency, Go Hyun-jung collapsed and was rushed to the emergency room that morning. She had been unwell for some time, collapsing multiple times on set during filming. Her agency stated, “This is not the first time. She seemed to have persevered out of a sense of responsibility as the lead actress, with only two days of filming left.”
The agency also clarified that her absence was solely due to health issues, addressing any speculation about conflicts with the production team.
Go Hyun-jung’s health issues had been apparent for some time. On a web variety show released in January, she revealed, “I’ve been quite unwell. I didn’t realize how serious it was because I thought it was all in my head and didn’t visit the hospital. I’m used to enduring things. But as time passed, I realized it wasn’t ordinary pain. When I finally decided to get a health check-up, the situation was severe. I was in critical condition, requiring two hospitals to collaborate on my health check-up.”
She continued, “After the health check, issues were identified. I thought treating those issues would make things better, but I collapsed while walking. I remember saying ‘I’m Go Hyun-jung. Please save me’ as I fell. All I could see were people’s feet. After regaining consciousness, I went to the hospital a couple of days later to diagnose and treat the real problem. I stayed in the hospital for a long time and came out a changed person.”
Although she has been taking medications and visiting the hospital regularly, her sudden collapse on the day of the press conference prevented her attendance. She remains hospitalized and continues to receive treatment. While her recent update after ten days brings relief, it also highlights the seriousness of her condition. Uhm Jung-hwa, Hong Yoon-hwa, Ryeoun, Park Seul-gi and Jang Na-ra left supportive comments or likes to encourage her.
Meanwhile, it is reported that two days of filming for “Namib” still remain. Given her current hospitalization, adjustments to the filming schedule are expected.
