He visits his parents’ home during a holiday, bringing gifts in both hands and even showing the house he personally designed for his parents out of love. In the VCR shown on the episode, Kim Jaejoong visits his parents’ home on his day off. The house was designed from scratch by Kim Jaejoong himself, considering every detail for his elderly parents. His parents looked at their son, who had not been home for a while due to his busy schedule, with loving eyes. As soon as he arrived, Kim Jaejoong hugged his mother tightly and held his father’s hand, expressing his affection.
Kim Jaejoong’s care and attention for his parents were evident throughout the house. As the youngest of nine siblings, his thoughtful and caring actions made the cast of “Convenience Store Restaurant” comment, “He takes care of his parents just like a daughter would” and “He’s a real filial son.” For his parents, whom he had not seen in a while, Kim Jaejoong also prepared a special health-boosting meal with ingredients he personally selected.
In this episode, Kim Jaejoong especially expressed concern for his father’s health, raising curiosity. He recalled, “My father went through two major health crises. I thought he was going to die, and my heart sank.” In an interview with the production team, Kim Jaejoong’s father shared “I was diagnosed with lung cancer, but thanks to Jaejoong, who went above and beyond to find the best care, I was able to undergo surgery successfully. I was recently declared cancer-free, and it’s all thanks to Jaejoong that I regained my health“, expressing gratitude toward his son.
Kim Jaejoong also made sure to check if his father had been feeling lonely lately by engaging in a calm, quiet conversation with him. He hugged his father tightly and walked hand in hand with him. Watching his father’s image on the VCR, Kim Jaejoong became emotional and said “It wasn’t until my late 30s that I could hold my father’s hand“, tearing up with a sense of regret.
