On November 6th, KBS Cool FM’s “Park Myung-soo’s Radio Show” featured the main cast of KBS2’s new Wednesday-Thursday drama “Face Me”, including Lee Min-ki, Han Ji-hyun, and Lee Yi-kyung.
“Face Me” is a medical drama that follows the collaboration between a cold-hearted plastic surgeon and a passionate millennial detective from the violent crimes unit as they pursue the truth behind cases through reconstructive surgery for crime victims.
During the show, Lee Yi-kyung explained, “Cha Jung-woo (played by Lee Min-ki) and I are friends in the show. He’s a plastic surgeon, and when Han Ji-hyun’s character joins as a detective, the plastic surgeons get involved in a certain case. It’s a story about deduction, similar to an autopsy, and chasing criminals.”
Furthermore, Lee Min-ki and Han Ji-hyun added, “The concept isn’t about changing faces through plastic surgery. While we can’t reveal everything, it’s a drama about healing not only the physical wounds but also the emotional trauma of victims at crime scenes through reconstructive surgery. We help them recover from injuries caused by crimes.”
Han Ji-hyun mentioned that playing a detective was particularly challenging, saying, “The terminology wouldn’t stick in my head, so I had to memorize everything right up until filming.”
When DJ Park Myung-soo commented that “She looks too delicate to be a detective,” she laughed and responded, “That’s good to hear. I trained hard at action school and practiced coordinating movements, though I’m not sure how well it turned out, but I gave it my all.”
Lee Min-ki, who had many surgery scenes, shared, “The terminology wasn’t particularly difficult, but since there were many surgery scenes, creating numerous scenarios within the center was challenging.”
Lee Yi-kyung also agreed, adding, “We consulted with real doctors to make it as authentic as possible, and positioned everything exactly like real surgery. It was challenging to blend the filming environment with reality,” raising expectations for the show.
Questions continued to focus on Lee Min-ki. When DJ Park Myung-soo asked, “Is Lee Min-ki a master of romantic comedies?” he humbly denied it, saying, “No, I haven’t done one in so long that I’m not sure if I still have it in me.” When asked about being “the younger man type that older women like,” he responded, “I might have been that back then, but not anymore. I really like hanging out with older guys, but these days I spend a lot of time alone. These days, I only meet people I’ve worked with on projects.”
Additionally, when Lee Min-ki denied being “a master of kiss scenes,” saying, “It’s been too long since I’ve done that genre,” DJ Park Myung-soo playfully teased, “The kiss scene from “Because This Is My First Life” has 10 million views on YouTube. Do you like kissing?” Lee Min-ki resigned himself to answering “Yes,” drawing laughter from everyone.
