Jisoo of BLACKPINK is set to star in her first-ever lead role for the forthcoming K-Drama “Newtopia,” with actor Park Jung Min.
The series, describing itself as an apocalyptic romantic fantasy story, releases its teaser on January 7, having unveiled a new teaser earlier in the day, which gives viewers a glimpse of a Seoul somewhat overrun by zombies.
According to Mail Korea, Jisoo and Park spoke with reporters about their experiences filming the drama at a press conference that same day.
Details on the series haven’t been revealed, but the story tells of Jae Yoon (Portrayed by Park) and girlfriend Young Ju (Portrayed by Jisoo) in the wake of an apocalypse.
Meanwhile, Park, who had previously worked with Jisoo on projects like Smugglers, Start-Up, and Harbin, commended the dedicated and professional nature of the K-pop superstar during filming.

He said the two actors filmed around 10 scenes together early in production to help establish the emotional bond of their characters.
That break in between filming, however, left him wanting more romantic scenes between them.
Park said, “I wish I had more romantic scenes with Jisoo. If “Newtopia” performs well, I think it really sets up my being able to delve into that with her in Season 2. Excited for it!”
Though some fans were worried about who had been cast opposite Jisoo, based on the trailer and the press event, the pair has so much chemistry it’s hard not to look forward to the series, which premieres on February 7.
The drama’s elements of romance and heart in a zombie apocalypse have resonated with fans, many of whom can’t wait to see where the story leads.
