The tvN show “Three Meals a Day: Light” showcased the beautiful scenery of Chuja Island along with interesting episodes. The fourth episode, which aired on October 11, featured the final day in Pyeongchang with Kim Go-eun and their first trip to Chuja Island.
After the broadcast, Nielsen Korea reported an average viewership rating of 9.5% in the metropolitan area, peaking at 12.5%, while nationwide it averaged 9.0% with a peak of 11.6%, securing the number one spot for the fourth week in a row.
Cha Seung-won prepared a special breakfast for Kim Go-eun at the Pyeongchang house, including grilled ham, fermented soybean paste stew, and grilled tofu, which impressed her. After Kim Go-eun left, Lee Kwang-soo and Do Kyung-soo unexpectedly appeared, prompting producer Na Young-seok to hint at a possible spin-off. Their playful banter added humor, and Yoo Hae-jin assisted Cha Seung-won in the kitchen.
Later, the duo traveled to Chuja Island, enjoying the coastal scenery while filming themselves. They purchased ingredients and showcased their cooking skills, with Yoo Hae-jin setting traps to catch octopus using pork as bait. Cha Seung-won prepared an impressive meal with freshly harvested vegetables, including fried chicken, young radish kimchi, and cold noodles, which delighted Yoo Hae-jin.
Since the episode aired, interest in visiting Chuja Island has surged. Jeju City reports 949 households and 1,573 residents on the island. Travelers can reach Chuja Island primarily by ferry from Yeosu or Tongyeong, with Yeosu ferries taking about 2 hours and 30 minutes and Tongyeong ferries about 2 hours. It’s easy to access these cities by express bus, and it’s advisable to book ferry tickets in advance during the busy summer season. Visitors can rent bicycles or use taxis for sightseeing once on Chuja Island.
