Romance in the House Episode 7 Recap

After a chaotic night at the motel, Mi-rae decides to leave home upon seeing her parents together, while Ae-yeon is annoyed by her daughter’s night out with a guy. However, Mi-rae’s disappearance causes another round of chaos as Ae-yeon and Moo-jin worry about her and try to figure out where she has gone.

Meanwhile, Mi-rae comes across Tae-pyeong who takes her home and cares for her there while revealing the past that he is trying to run away from. While the tension between them increases, Mi-rae gets a message from Ae-yeon requesting to talk calmly and Mi-rae makes her way back home before anything happens between her and Tae-pyeong.

Elsewhere, Moo-jin makes his way to a teacher’s funeral where he overhears Jae-gyeol badmouthing him but doesn’t react much to it which only irritates the latter. He then stops Moo-jin and confronts him about the embezzlement he has been doing which Moo-jin is aware of. However, Moo-jin doesn’t say anything about it and only hopes for him to continue working for him.

On the other hand, Ae-yeon comes to the same funeral home for the funeral of another teacher. Later, she walks out to see Moo-jin surrounded by his old baseball mates who try to humiliate him. Right then, Ae-yeon walks into the scene and saves him from them while ensuring he can walk out of there with his head held high.

However, Moo-jin is unable to accept the image Ae-yeon has created for him and confronts about the same, but Ae-yeon replies with the fact that he wasn’t the only one who had to let go of something when they got together in the first place. With this, she returns home alone where she finds Mi-rae and tries to talk things with her.

Unfortunately, Mi-rae is not ready to let go of the possibility of her parents getting back together and begins to rebel against Ae-yeon. The next day, the tenant Lee Jeong-hyeok continues to put together his suspicion about Moo-jin into a novel and is almost ready with his new masterpiece. But, his plans are put to a stop when he goes to collect evidence against Moo-jin on the rooftop where the other tenants have gathered to plant plants.

Meanwhile, Ae-yeon tries to talk to Mi-rae but fails after repeated efforts. Seeing this, Mi-rae leaves to go out and comes across Moo-jin who is relieved to see her safe and back home. Getting no response from her, he follows her and tells her how he never had a moment he didn’t want her, to which Mi-rae scoffs.

Later, she meets Tae-pyeong who brings his bicycle to teach her how to ride it. Mi-rae is not very enthusiastic about this but goes for it, and Moo-jin comes across this scene which takes him back to a memory he almost forgot. The memory of the day that put a dent in their father-daughter relationship.

A flashback shows the day Moo-jin got Mi-rae a bicycle but after promising to teach her how to ride it, he leaves to meet a friend for some drinks. While getting drunk, the television plays a baseball game where another member of their baseball team is playing which was a position that originally belonged to Moo-jin.

While the friend comments how Moo-jin could have been the one on television if not for his wife and daughter, Moo-jin doesn’t say anything back but notices a bicycle wheel near the door. Unknown to him, Mi-rae overheard their conversation and mistook it as Moo-jin regretting her existence.

Back in the present, Moo-jin finally realises what went wrong in their relationship with Mi-rae which leaves him stunned when Mi-rae notices him standing there. Right then, she sees another vehicle moving towards him, making her panic into pushing the bicycle towards her father to save him. Moo-jin sees her moving towards him as she rushes past him and falls off the bicycle.

Moo-jin and Tae-pyeong see this and rush her into a hospital and Moo-jin even scolds Tae-pyeong for not taking care of her. Mi-rae and Moo-jin begin fighting in the hospital until she is sent to the doctor. Later, Tae-pyeong puts her in a wheelchair and pushes her out where he sneakily hands over the handle to Moo-jin.

His words finally put a crack in Mi-rae’s walls as she cries out in pain for the wounds that have been stuck to her since the day she overheard her father. Romance in the House Episode 7 Review

The second half of the show has begun and we are already on the road to healing and revelations of mysteries that pushed Moo-jin and his family apart. This episode brought a soothing feeling to us all as wounds begin healing for the characters and we begin to understand the deep history shared by them all.

From Moo-jin and Ae-yeon’s complex yet love-filled relationship to Moo-jin’s relationship with his daughter, it changed and got worse for many reasons. I have loved how both Moo-jin and Ae-yeon realise everything they did wrong when Mi-rae was growing up which in a way helps them understand that it wasn’t just one person’s fault. However, I would like to see some more of Hyeon-jin’s involvement in this family development as well.

Finally, Tae-pyeong’s story revelation also hit the spot in this episode as we see another side of the complex family relationships that have messed up his life too. Altogether, the family drama in this episode was heartwarming, painful, and sad, yet beautiful, as they do not hide from saving each other in times of need even after everything that has happened.
