The Judge from Hell Episode 8 Recap
News of So-young’s disappearance spreads and Myung-sook gathers the tenants to warn them of the safe, telling them to be as safe as possible. Meanwhile, detectives except Da-on and the rest of So-young’s team are put on the case. They try to question this decision but seeing their current state, they are dismissed from the search.
Later, Da-on heads to So-young’s home where he finds out that she speculates that Da-on’s parents’ killer was back and was the one who attacked Jung-im. Bit-na sees Da-on’s tired self and begins worrying about him, almost jumping into finding So-young herself. Thinking about him, she doesn’t hesitate to accompany Da-on to meet a witness when he asks her to.
The witness assures them to give his statement in court, however, she disappoints them when he sides with Won-joong. With this, Bit-na adjourns the court until the verdict date for this case. Later, she accompanies Assemblyman Jung Jae-gul, his son and Won-joong’s father for their celebratory dinner where they speak about how God has forgiven Won-joong who has been praying in prison.
Bit-na is annoyed by their words but says nothing. Later, she meets A-rong who tells her that she has found the only survivor of the serial murder case from years back. The child is none other than Da-on, and Bit-na is shocked by this information. A sudden shift is felt in her emotions but she holds herself back, however, A-rong is already suspicious of her.

Later, Bit-na tries to ask Da-on about the serial killer but stops herself. On the day of the verdict, she passes the judgment favoring Won-joong which everyone is disappointed, but all Bit-na can see are the tears in Da-on’s eyes. She heads back to her office and tells everyone to stop focusing on the comments made about her. Later, Man-do warns her against A-rong but Bit-na ignores his claims.
Meanwhile, Mr Won’s daughter is at her last breath in the hospital when suddenly, a miracle helps her recover. As she receives the blessing of an angel who turns out to be Mi-ja and the medical support provided by the two cleaners who help Bit-na, a better life awaits her. Elsewhere, Won-joong is happy that he is now free but Da-on tries to persuade him to get protection, worrying that he is Bit-na’s next target.
Soon, his worries come true as Bit-na orders A-rong to get her target to his place. While in church, Won-joong gets a call telling him to come to the amusement park near the golf course where he beat up Mr Won or else proof of his killing Mr. Won will be spread on the internet. Won-jooong is aware that the police are following him so he tricks them before going to the amusement park.
Bit-na prepares to leave to give her judgment but is stopped by Da-on who asks her to tell him the truth about her plan to kill Won-joong. Bit-na scoffs and asks him to tell her the truth first- about the serial killer who killed his parents. She offers to punish the man who killed his family, delivering a brutal death that Da-on wishes to give. Da-on denies wanting that and while he wishes to punish the man, it will only be in a lawful way.
Bit-na begins to leave from there but Da-on stops her and hugs her, thanking her for letting him know that he is not the one to be blamed for his family’s death. This surprises Bit-na as she soon pushes him off and walks away. Soon, Bit-na arrives and the punishment begins with Won-joong first going through everything he put Mr Won through before taking him to the Ferris wheel where she delivers the final blow.
However, upon getting down from the Ferris wheel she is caught by Da-on who has his camera held up in front of her. This angers Bit-na as she finally understands that she has been tricked and finds a locator on her shoulder that he put when he hugged her. Bit-na walks towards Da-on and tells him to hand over his phone to her only for him to throw sulphur powder on her.
Bit-na is shocked by this and soon understands that he found her weakness through Man-do who revealed to him that sulfur powder renders her powerless for an hour or two. Unable to fight back without her powers, Bit-na is soon subdued by Da-on who puts handcuffs on her. Right then, he gets a call that So-young has been found so he handcuffs her to the Ferris wheel before making his way to the location.
But what awaits him is the brutal scene of So-young’s deformed body lying on the floor, dead. This takes him back to the memory of the first time he met So-young when she opened the room he was hiding in while his family lay dead in another room. It was So-young who held him when he had fallen down, making him a part of her family and taking him as his son.
Her death became the last straw for Da-on who now sets himself on the path to revenge. He returns to the amusement park where Bit-na has freed herself and is now walking to him ready to attack. However, she stops when she sees Da-on throwing his phone and breaking it with a stone. Da-on picks up the broken phone and gives it to her before asking her to kill the serial killer J for him.

He asks her to work together with him so that they can find him and he can kill the man who destroyed his family for the second time. Bit-na warns him that he will be sent to hell for killing him but Da-on no longer cares. He tells her that he will kill the man and will willingly present himself in front of her to kill.
Bit-na tells him to keep this promise and walks away, but suddenly stops as the familiar thumping of her heart begins. Right then, she feels tears form in her eyes and slip down her face, taking her by surprise as she turns back to look at the human who made her cry for him.
The Judge from Hell Episode 8 Review
Episode 8 has brought a turning point to this show as characters face a change in their personality. While Bit-na begins to realize her feelings for Da-on, the latter knows nothing but revenge after the death of So-young. Things are soon to get complicated for Bit-na, especially since we as viewers have found out that she does in fact have a weakness, and with her tears flowing for a human.
But we can also see her helping Da-on more than she would have liked to because her feelings for him are not simple. On the other hand, Da-on is entering his villain era as his target is set and all he wants now is revenge. But I hope he too clears his feelings for Bit-na and tries to help her with the trouble she is going to face. Surely we are set for the pair helping each other in the upcoming episodes and all this while facing some big-name sinners like the Assemblyman.
Park Shin-hye has been surprising us with her performance in this show, but today Kim Jae-young has brought out a beautiful portrayal of his character. The final scenes of this episode peaked his performance in the show and I am ready to see what else he holds in store for us in the upcoming episodes.
While I’m hoping for a happy ending for this otherworldly couple, I am also curious about the identity of Satan. With Man-do pointing at A-rong at all times we can assume that she may be the villain. However, him speaking about Bit-na’s weakness so easily gives us a point to doubt him as well. Who knows, he might just not be Bit-na’s real subordinate but someone else pretending to be him.
Altogether, there are many characters to doubt upon and many expectations that we hold from the show. While this episode has certainly been among the best ones until today, the spotlight also falls on the angel and demon cleaners who showed their blessing and kindness to the girl who almost lost everything.
