The Judge from Hell Episode 9 Recap

The show opens up with the scene of So-young’s funeral which is attended by the police department, family, Bit-na and A-rong. Looking at the scene in front of her, Bit-na remembers how she previously cried in front of Da-on. The scene then shifts to how she was taken to So-young’s dismembered body and with a touch, she finds out who the real killer is.

As the funeral proceeds, Da-on is called to give the funeral address, but he soon loses his cool and as the rain pours, his rage takes over. Here, Bit-na also begins to shed tears looking at him in pain which leaves A-rong surprised. Upon returning home, Da-on remembers the deal he made with Bit-na who warned him that she would even take up the unethical route if she needed to complete her mission.

Recalling these words, Da-on tears his certificate of appointment, signifying that he is ready to take his revenge through any means necessary. Elsewhere, Bit-na is not ready to accept that she shed tears for Da-on and decides to “fix” herself. Meanwhile, A-rong catches Man-do and reveals her true identity as a Venato (demons who capture demons who are humanising).

The next day, Bit-na gets her eyes checked but is once again sent to the psychiatrist. She makes her realise that the reason behind her tears is the love and compassion blooming within her for Da-on. Bit-na is unable to accept this diagnosis as she is a demon and cannot have such feelings. Meanwhile, new members join Da-on’s team and they begin investigating So-young’s case which has now connected with the serial killer from years back.

As the discussion begins, the new head is told about their doubt on Bit-na but Da-on jumps in to defend her. This creates a rift between him and his teammates which is noticed by the new members. Later, he is called by Bit-na for lunch (a plan she gets from a colleague to cheer him up), but the atmosphere is ruined when they overhear someone discussing So-young’s case. Their talks about So-young’s dismembered body fuels Da-on’s anger and Bit-na has to step in to take care of the situation.

Later, she hands over the task of looking for So-young and Da-on’s family members in hell to the cleaner demons. That evening, Man-do observes as Bit-na looks over the case with Da-on when she suddenly starts crying. Man-do is shocked by this and is sent away by Bit-na. He then tells A-rong about this, who is angered by Bit-na’s changing self.

Meanwhile, Bit-na is woken up late at night by Mi-ja, who surprises her by showing her true identity. She is the angel Gabriel who has been taking care of the good and poor in the name of God and has been taking care of the people left behind by Bit-na. She was the one who saved the girl from hanging herself, delivered a letter to the little boy from his parents in heaven, and gave life to the girl who almost died in the hospital.

Now, she wishes to save Da-on who is leaving her protection due to his plan to kill the serial killer. She tells Bit-na of her prophecy that either she or Da-on will have to die here on. She hopes that she saves Da-on from committing any crime or else she will not be able to protect Da-on any longer. This puts Bit-na in jeopardy, however, she is not ready to believe that she will back out from killing Da-on.

The next day, Min-joon is having breakfast at the landlady Myung-sook’s house when he gets up to use the washroom. But she ends up trying to enter another room which is seen by Myung-sook whose face changes when she sees him trying to enter the room. Right then, he tells her that he is looking for the washroom which changes her expression back to that of a kindhearted woman.

Later, when Jung-im arrives at her house, the two are shocked by the news of So-young’s murder. Elsewhere, Bit-na finds out that Assemblyman Jung Jae-gul’s younger son was caught driving under the influence of drugs and is taken into custody. She is shown the picture of the man and realises that he is the culprit she has been looking for. Later, she is called by the assemblyman and immediately promises him to get his son out soon.

But when leaving, she is stopped by his son who warns her to stay away from him and his family. Bit-na is amused by him and tells him to say that to his father. He then tells her that she must not be Bit-na as the Bit-na he knew would be begging him to marry her. She scoffs at him and asks him what secret lies in her memories that he has this confidence but gets nothing out of him. The two separate on bad terms once again.

Elsewhere, Da-on has a fallout with his old teammates while the new officer probes into his view of Bit-na. Later, Da-on and Bit-na meet at the staircase where she sees his bruised face. Unable to control herself, she goes to help him with his wounds. However, Bit-na mistakes him when he leans in only for him to tell her that she has been putting lip balm on his wound.

The next day, the assemblyman’s son Jung Sun-ho is on trial and he easily accepts his crimes. Seeing his attitude, Bit-na comes down to face him and asks him if he has ever killed someone. Flashback to the scene she saw in So-young’s memories shows that it was Sun-ho who held the bloodied knife while So-young lay on the ground.

Elsewhere, Da-on deletes evidence against Bit-na which catches her going to one of her victim’s crime scenes. This is seen by the new officer- Jang Mun-jae. He then confronts Da-on about it and tells him to listen to his instructions if he doesn’t want to get reported for it. Later, he visits A-rong and tells her that he has confirmed her information about Bit-na getting attached to the human Han Da-on.

At night, as Bit-na walks back home through the dark alleys, she is stopped by Jang Mun-jae.

The Judge from Hell Episode 9 Review

Episode 9 brings a continuation following So-young’s tragedy and the newly formed partnership between Da-on and Bit-na. While there aren’t any major events taking place in the episode, it is essential as we see more of Bit-na’s tears, A-rong’s true identity, Mi-ja’s true identity, and a prophecy that has been set for Bit-na and Da-on.

Seeing Gabriel’s appearance in the episode only made the setting more real, also showing us where this show is set to go. While we are hoping that the impending tragedy leads to something good that will give a chance to this eccentric duo. Meanwhile, I hope the identity of Satan comes out soon because this is surely one of the mysteries that has me intrigued since the story of the character popped up.

Altogether, this episode was easy-going with not many big twists. However, it has set the background for some dynamic scene tomorrow.
