After almost two years of investigation, Yoo Ah In obtained an official sentence from a judge today. He received a one-year sentence and was ordered to pay a $1490 fine for charges regarding his habitual drug use, according to a news report by The Korea Times. A four-year sentence was pursued with the judgment ultimately reduced to one year.
His detention will be immediate alongside the fine being paid. They “charged him with using drugs illegally and destroying evidence, violating Korea’s Narcotics Control Act,” Korea Times reporter Lee Hae In writes.
Yoo Ah In habitually used the sedative propofol almost two hundred times under false pretenses of cosmetic procedures from September 2020 to March 2022. He was indicted in October 2023 and was found guilty. From May 2021 until August 2023, the ‘Hellbound’ star was charged with illegally buying over 1000 sleeping pills under a false name 44 times and smoking marijuana in the United States with four people.
