“Culinary Class Wars” Edward Lee “I Still Can’t Eat Tofu, Same Zodiac Year as Yoo Jae-suk”

On October 14, “You Quiz” uploaded a pre-released video titled “‘Culinary Class Wars‘ Winner Kwon Seong-joon, White House Dinner Chef Edward Lee! The Story Behind the 300 Million Won Prize and Chef Lee Kyun”.

In the video, Edward Lee confessed, “Honestly, I still can’t eat tofu.” Despite impressing viewers with various tofu dishes in the final episode of “Culinary Class Wars”, he lost to Kwon Seong-joon (Napoli Matfia) and finished as the runner-up.

He jokingly mentioned that after realizing he was born in the year of the rat (1972) and is the same age as Yoo Jae-suk, he might open a “Year of the Rat Restaurant” someday.

Previously, on October 11, Edward Lee shared on social media, “It has been a dream to cook in my homeland with the ingredients of my youth and to show the world how beautiful and diverse Korean food can be.”

Regarding the criticism that Edward Lee was at a disadvantage because he didn’t have a kitchen to practice in Korea, he responded, “And to those who have remarked that I was at a disadvantage because I did not have a kitchen to practice in Korea, it makes me ask, What is a Kitchen? Every day off while in Korea, I turned my hotel room into a test kitchen, bought ingredients from the local markets and tested new ideas all while watching intense Korean dramas for motivation. A kitchen is passion and love and creativity – it is not only fancy equipment or luxury ingredients. All I ever really need is a cutting board, a knife and curiosity to turn any room into a kitchen.”

Lastly, he added, “Thank you to everyone and hope I inspired you to try something new in your own kitchens, whatever that may look like.” He also posted a picture of himself watching MBC’s drama “The Red Sleeve” while researching cooking.
