2NE1 Reflects on Reunion and Growth: “From Colleagues to Family”

On the October 23 episode of tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block,” 2NE1 appeared as a full group for the first time in 10 years and opened up about their recent reunion and the changes in their relationship.

CL discussed the challenges of bringing the group back together after their disbandment. “Just a few months ago, we were still a disbanded group. It’s hard enough for friends to meet up, let alone for all four of us. We made a promise to have a meal together at least once a year, usually around Minzy’s birthday. That’s why I was able to invite them to Coachella easily. Since it’s our 15th anniversary, we thought, why not do something special to celebrate?” CL explained.

Sandara Park added, “Our leader’s initiative was really important. CL gathered us together and organized everything, even rehearsals in a gym that was set up just like the concert stage. We practiced so much that we could perform even after just waking up.”

The members reminisced about their trainee days, with Sandara Park recalling CL’s impressive charisma as a teen and Bom’s cheerful personality. Bom admitted she was intimidated by Dara’s fame in the Philippines. They also shared how they handled chores like changing water bottles and cleaning, with CL mentioning their strict diets.

Reflecting on their meteoric rise after debuting in 2009, the members admitted they were too busy at the time to fully realize the extent of their popularity. CL said, “We were constantly trying new things, so we didn’t have time to look back or take it all in.”

Sandara Park expressed that the hardest part of their disbandment was the separation from her fellow members. CL concluded, “I never thought we wouldn’t reunite, but I knew we all had to be in a good place for it to happen. I’m thankful we all held on.”

CL also shared how their relationship has evolved, saying, “Back then, I didn’t show much emotion because I felt responsible for the members. But now, we talk about family, life, and even dating.”
