In the first four episodes of Seoul Busters, we witnessed the chaotic team of the Violent Crimes Unit as they failed their secret mission, leading to the departure of their team leader. Forced to relocate to a nearby daycare center, the team experienced a shift in their dynamic. They began taking on new cases under the guidance of their new leader, Dongbang Yu-bin—a brilliant academic with an impressive career. With Yu-bin’s expertise, the team successfully solved their first case, an achievement they had never managed before.
The comedy series is directed by Ahn Jong-yeon and Shin Joong-hoon and written by Lee Kwang-jae and Lee Young-chul.

Seoul Busters Episode 5 Recap
The episode kicks off with Jung-Hwan and Tan-sik chatting with Hyo-joo’s friend, who spills the beans about Hyo-joo’s troublesome ex-boyfriend. Apparently, he’s been harassing her nonstop, and it’s been seriously bothering her. This new info has Jung-Hwan and Tan-sik running back to the team. Jung-Ryuk is all ready to point fingers at the ex-boyfriend as the main suspect, but Yu-bin’s not buying it. He wants to dig deeper.
Yu-bin heads over to the restaurant where the fire happened, and his attempt to piece together the scene is both insightful and amusing. We also learn that Hyo-joo had previously complained to the police about her ex, who had been lurking outside her house with a knife. Jung-Ryuk then confronts the ex-boyfriend, who’s from a rich family and seems to think he’s untouchable. A street brawl ensues, with Jung-Ryuk giving him a good beating before dragging him to the daycare center for more questioning.
At the daycare centre, things get heated. Hyo-joo’s father, the restaurant owner, and the ex-boyfriend are all present. Jung-Ryuk’s personal history with Hyo-joo’s dad, his former boxing coach, makes him emotional, leading to tension with Yu-bin, who’s trying to keep things objective. Despite their best efforts, they’re stuck without any solid leads on who burned down the restaurant or who’s targeting Hyo-joo.
The episode takes a dramatic turn when the police chief calls out the team for allegedly targeting an innocent person, showing just how money and status can muddy the waters of justice. Yu-bin suggests a new approach: Min-seo will re-examine the restaurant’s insurance, while Tan-sik and Jung-Hwan interview locals. Yu-bin also tells Jung-Ryuk to step back from the case to avoid letting his personal feelings get in the way.
Seoul Busters Episode 5 Review
This episode of Seoul Busters is a rollercoaster of crime and comedy. Watching Jung-Ryuk’s reaction to the ex-boyfriend is both entertaining and a bit much. His street fight with the rich kid is a highlight, showcasing his frustration with the privileges that money can buy. It’s clear that Jung-Ryuk’s emotional investment is both his strength and his downfall.
Yu-bin, on the other hand, is the voice of reason, and it’s refreshing to see him pushing for a thorough investigation despite the roadblocks. His attempts to analyze the restaurant fire are a mix of sharp deduction and comic relief, which adds a nice balance to the episode.
The tension between Jung-Ryuk and Yu-bin is palpable, especially with Jung-Ryuk’s personal connection to Hyo-joo’s father complicating things. It’s a classic case of letting emotions cloud professional judgment, and it’s something that always makes for a compelling watch.
