The Judge from Hell Episode 14 Recap

The episode opens with Da-on walking into someone’s funeral but it is not the person we expected, instead; it is Mi-ja’s funeral. Turns out Gabriel intercepted Bit-na’s punishment when she was being sent to her eternal death. While she had to give up on her own life, she sent Bit-na back to the mortal realm moments after she was pronounced dead. She tells her that her judgement of Tae-gyu’s case became her saving straw and a test she had put forward for her.

Back at the hospital, Da-on cries looking at the dead Bit-na when she suddenly breathes again and opens her eyes. He is stunned but glad about her return while Bit-na is also relieved as she checks on her wound that Gabriel has healed. Right then, he gets a call informing him of Tae-gyu’s escape and the two get back on business. Bit-na tells him about her intentions, and he trusts her and hopes she won’t be caught.

Bit-na soon gets to work while Tae-gyu attacks his lawyer who prepared his escape and moves on with his plan. However, he turns back mid-way when he is informed that his passport is not ready. This was Bit-na’s trick and she soon follows him into his farmhouse where she finally delivers her punishment to the sinner.

The scene soon shifts for Tae-gyu as he finds himself running away from her arrows in a forest and facing his first death. The scene then changes to Justicia’s court where he is made to fight against Satan and face his second death. Finally, the scene changes to Da-on’s childhood home where she attacks him just like he did to his victims- by chopping his body parts.

The illusions then come to an end and Bit-na begins the real punishment as she beats him into a pulp before stabbing him and engraving her stamp on his forehead. Tae-gyu’s chapter ends this way and the next day, investigators find him hanging from a pole while coffins of his victims lay in front of him with their missing body parts inside them.

With this, we return to the opening scene where Myung-sook asks Da-on about Bit-na who is busy eating in the other room. Bit-na is busy gobbling the food served at the memorial while A-rong is happily getting her more food. Meanwhile, the cleaner demons inform Bit-na about their work this time when Da-on walks up to them. Bit-na pays her respects to Mi-ja as she complains about the food but thanks her for help this time.

Later, while the two sit near his camping van to relax, Da-on asks her to not leave so soon as she has finished her assignment. Bit-na informs him that she has made a deal with Bael and now has three years to live as a human. She wishes to live by these three years while making memories that would last her an aeon as a demon. With this, the two look forward to the days to come while Bit-na’s first task is to move to her new post in the countryside.

After an emotional goodbye to her colleagues and the people at the villa, she moves to her new post. Two years pass by quickly and Bit-na goes through cases that are plain annoying. But with visits from Da-on she survives through it all. But with this being her last year on earth, she is sad about not having given him enough time. However, she gets a call asking for her return to Seoul which leaves the couple happy.

Bit-na is happy and excited to see how everyone is doing back in the city. There, she meets all the victims of the sinners she sent to hell. Seeing them live a better life as they slowly move away from their painful memories makes her feel happy. However, what shocks her is the changed Man-do who has turned to Buddhism to find a place in paradise. Later, she returns home where the atmosphere has changed from two years back.

The area is no longer desolate but has become a happier place where many other homes have moved. Later, as she enjoys the feast prepared at Myung-sook’s house for her return, she is happy to see how everyone’s lives have changed for the better. As she enjoys her time with them, she later moves to the quiet rooftop with Da-on as she looks forward to the happy year ahead of them while sharing a love-filled kiss with him.

She soon returns to work and is welcomed with big banners and fans who express their love for her. She happily returns to her position and is later invited by her colleagues for lunch. There she gets updates on her ex-superior who now is a successful Youtuber, while her colleagues hand over their wedding card to her.

Later, she meets So-young’s daughter So-hee who introduces Bit-na as her sister-in-law to her friend. Bit-na takes them out for burgers and sees So-hee’s friend mix the fries which reminds her of Mi-ja. Upon looking at the reflection of the young boy, she finds out that her friend Gabriel is back.

With this, Bit-na returns to work and is swamped with cases to look into. Suddenly, the room turns dark and Bael arrives in front of her, commenting on her happiness working as a judge. He then passes on Lucifer’s offer to Bit-na, who promises to let her live as a human in exchange for sending 10 sinners to hell within one year. However, he hopes she will refuse the offer and return to hell soon.

Meanwhile, at the police station, another case similar to Tae-gyu’s has put pressure on the officers. Da-on is ready to investigate this new case when he gets a message from Bit-na who asks him to meet her. Upon meeting, she tells him about the offer given to her and while it is attractive, it would mean that she would have to release sinners with a lighter sentence to kill them in the upcoming year. This would go against her conscience, which she has developed over the years and is not sure about what to do.

Da-on smiles at her and tells her that he trusts her choice and come what may, he would support her like she supported him when she sent him on the boat to catch Tae-gyu. With this, Bit-na can choose the future with much ease. The next day, she comes across another case that boils her blood as another sinner who shows no remorse is brought in front of her while the victim’s mother cries. While she puts a halt to the trial, she plans for what to do next.

As she walks out of court, she comes across a familiar scene where little children stop her in front of the statue of the goddess of justice. She once again begins to answer their questions, and when they ask her what kind of a judge she is; she tells them she is a judge from hell.

The Judge from Hell Episode 14 Review

The finale is finally here and I have surely loved every moment presented in this episode. As it smoothly plays out the end of the story, it also leaves an open ending which opens the door to a probable season 2 which we surely need. The episode in itself has been satisfying as it brought out everything we could’ve asked for.

Serving us fluffy DaNa scenes to bring satisfaction with the way Bit-na bashes Tae-gyu, this episode had it all. Additionally, I loved how it also looked back to all the victims Bit-na gave justice to throughout the show, relieving them of fear that could’ve harmed them for all their lives. This episode brought nostalgia from the weeks we have spent watching the show with a sense of happiness for everyone.

However, the highlight for me is the open ending that fills me up with the hope that this eccentric judge from hell is going to return once again. Her adventure is surely not over and neither is her story with Da-on, so we hope they return soon.
